Rx battery Q?

hi fellas...i hate it when my electric toys just ran away without any warnings when they don't have enough juice anymore...my question is...is it alright to rig the Rx with separate Rx pack (ex. 5-cell?)..or is it a bad idea and could overload my ESC?

thanks for any input in advance

thats how the gas cars do it. all you need to do is cut the red wire going from the esc to the receiver so it wont feed power.

but first off, why is it doing this. what esc is it??? doesnt it have radio priority??? how many cells are you running???

it's mtroniks sport rv15 ESC..batt packs are 6 cells 1500's amp maxx... Tx/Rx is adspec (one that cames from a terra crusher).
it happens usually when i'm running at high speeds that it will run away when the juice then goes low...so this is not normal huh?
thanks Sharkey

nope. i dont think its the battery pack going low, i think its a radio problem. look for cuts in your antena wire, and cuts in the servo wires.

They're most likely right, . . . if you're running a hot mod and the battery gets low sometimes the draw is so high it robs the receiver of power . . . only thing is by that time it's going so slow it can't run away, you just lose steering . . . as long as you're supplying 4.8 or 6.0 volts max to the receiver you should be OK but it also should be unnecessary.

rocknbil, yes that what exactly happens i lose steering control, now i just realized that it started to do that when i put the chameleon pro2 19T motor (e-pede)...i'm picking up a new peak charger and couple of 3000's and see if it makes some changes first.
so the Rx pack is unnecessary? the reason i thought of that is because i also have an electric boat and i'm afraid if it does the same thing...i'll be in deep really deep trouble getting it back.
thanks

But you said it ran away, didn't you?

If it's going too slow to worry about, that's pretty normal, but if it's going off on you that's not.

In the first case, you will have to learn to read the signs. In the last minute of a battery the motor sounds and feels soft. A good nicad, one without a memory, should drop off to nothing in under 60 seconds when you hear that. That's the sign to bring it ashore.

A 19T motor shouldn't draw so hard that it robs your RX until the pack is almost dead. You may have something else up, like they other posts said. It's important you know the difference . . .

thanks i need to pay attention to that sign , it runs away maybe at about less than a block and it stops right there since there's no juice left in the batt packs.
