What NOT do do with a Sandmaster!!!

On friday I decided to take one of my Sandmasters(the ST) to work and bash after hours. HAd it running great and was having a ball when one of my coworkers asks "how high does it jump"?

Not having ever really found the answer to that I figured "what the hey. It's had a nice run and been a blast". So off I go to find out.

Turns out it will jump my van quite nicely. And that's the LONG way too. Luckily I have a nice soft grassy area to land in so it was taking the landings like a pro.

Then we start to look for something "a little higher" to jump when someone sees our basketball net. Light goes on!

Apparently these things are not as easy to control in mid air as my planes are.

So here is the aftermath of taking on a backboard at full tilt and then getting caught in the net. Had a fun time getting it out too. NO LADDER.

Gonna have an interesting time explaining the tire tracks on the backboard on monday.

What kinda engine do u have powering that baby? I have the MKII and got a cv-x .12 powering mine. The thing is a missle but i go through gears like nobodies business. I just finally rebuilt mine and broke in the tranny, now im having pullstart issues. That buggy just wont give me a break.
I was curious about the tranny and because the st and mkII is the exact same car except for the arms and tires of course.
I have a broken engine head fin. I broke it when i was jumping off the huge bump on my street at WOT when it did a back flip and landed on its back.

Thanks but everything that i replace in the buggy i will integret into it so that way i dont have to use cheap kyosho parts that fail. Scary thing is that tower hobbies actually carries some stuff for it, and its in stock.

Yep..I have two buggies I got way back in '93 (I think) and the ST I won in '97. I had the cv-x .12 in it but I could never get it to run well at all so I pulled one of the GS-11's out of the worst off buggy and I was using that for the past few years. Packed away the OS and forgot about it. Started to mess with it again last fall and had no end of trouble with it. Turned out that there was a casting flaw in the carb that caused an never ending air leak so idle wasn't going to happen. Now it's working great and I put it in the ST. Sucker flys!!! Way fast enough for me. I tried salvaging the parts I need from the buggies but I think they're a bit too old. Don't quite fit right.

Turns out the damage wasn't all that bad. Sure the front end was completely ripped off but only three parts are broken. Trouble is in finding replacements.

One shock has the top and bottom caps borken. I'm sure they can be replaced. Might even do all the shocks at the same time. The part that the front arms hinge onto ripped off and the front "plate" that all the steering gear mounts to got buggered at the front. I'm trying to find some sort of part number to see if there is ANYWHERE I can get these parts.

So I wonder if I can't replace these with Kyosho originals, is there any other car that I can substitute parts from? Unfortunately unless I want to have them custom machined out of aluminium I don't think that I can make them myself.

Worst part is that after so long with the OS sitting I finally have it tuned just right and it runs like a dream I STILL think that my GS-11's are a more reliable engine. No where near as good performance wise but they just don't seem to die. I have one that has over 6 gallons through it just in the buggy. I put a marine head on it a few years ago and used it in a boat for another 2 gallons. Still runs and idles fine.

So ,as for the parts, my LHS is a no go. Tried there once and they actually laughed at me for having a sandmaster so I took my $$$ elsewhere. Don't really go there unless I need something right away or I can't find it anywhere else.

You guys have Sandmasters?
Holy crap, I didnt think anyone did! =)
Ive got 2.
One I recently converted to take a T-15, and with proline DirtHawgs, it launches like a rocket.
It will actaully take my Epic powered MT2 off the line, but of course that doesn't last past 15k rpms.
