Duratrax TORQ. 16 clutch question

I got a Duratrax Maximum MT that has been laying around for quite a while. I was looking at the tranny and the clutch doesnt touch the bell at all, so that i dont get any power to the wheels. How do i adjust the clutch? Sorry if this seem dumb, but im new ot this so i gotta learn somewhere! Thanks

Are you sure its the clutch thats not touching? I'm betting its something else along the drivetrain. Possibly the wheels are loose or the setscrews in the drive cups are loose. If you're sure its the clutch then you probably have to replace the clutch shoes http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXD324&P=7

Or if your flywheel is spinning without turning the engine then you have to tighten the clutch nut.. Try the stuff i mentioned if you think youve narrowed the problem down or need more help let me know

Well first you'll have to take off your engine with the 4 screws holding it to the engine mount (or chassis). Then You have to take off the clutch bell by removing the e-clip. Then slide off the clutch bell and bearings and then pull the clutch shoes off the flywheel. The clutch nut will now be exposed and you can tighten it with an adjustable wrench or a socket. But hold the flywheel tight while tightening because you dont want to damage the one way bearing or the pullstart.

no there should be a gap. That's the point because the clutch does not engage until the engine spins fast enough and the shoes expand to fill that gap and they grab the bell. Make sure to clean the inside of the bell and the shoes too so it grabs a bit better. you can even sand them a bit with fine paper to remove the glazed on layer.
