What are good 1/10 scale touring cars and stad. trucks for racing?

Hi, I have a choice between getting a nitro on road car or a stadium truck. Do you guys know if the 4tec 3.3 or jato 3.3 would be good for racing or do I need to get a car from "racing" companies like AE or Losi?

What do you guys think of the LOSI XXNT Adam Drake edition? IT says it can only use .12 engines. is that true? IF so, what engines do you guys recommend? Thanks.

Those 2 cars would not be good for racing IF the guys you race with have Associated GTs or XXX-NTs. The XXX-NT AD or AD2 are great trucks. I have the RTR and the AD2 and love them both. They both are good (or great as in the case of the AD2) racers AND bashers. If you want a ST truck for racing, I reccommend any of the Losi vehicles (all race worthy) or the Associated RC10GT, or wait for the new RC10GT2. For touring cars, the Associated NTC3 is a good starter racer, and can still hold its own, or get a Mugen, or the Team Magic G4S. There are many great touring cars out there. The main thing to look for is parts support (if you have any, I don't b/c I moved to a small town) It is disappointing to break a $2-10 part only to have to wait a week to get it AND pay extra for shipping. What is your budget for either type or both vehicles? That is also a very important thing to consider. I just bought my AD2 two weeks ago ($320) plus an OS .12 CV-R (great engine for racing, $100) and an Airtronics 357 servo ($100) and a servo I had laying around for throttle. Total= $520 not including shipping. It adds up quick, and EXPECT to buy parts often, cause the things you dont think will break on race day often do. I almost can rebuild 1 whole other truck in parts. I dont like that I can cause its so much money invested, but it saves the race day.... Hope I helped.

WEll, I dont really have a budget: i mean i dont want to spend a ton of money right away, but 500 bucks doesnt sound too bad.

Also, what is the max speed of ur truck using the OS enginE?

Tell you the truth, I really dont know, but it HAULS with the engine, at least on the track. I would guess low 40s with my gearing. I have it set up for acceleration right now because there is only 1 straight away, and the rest of the track is 15 feet 180s. $500 really isnt bad in this hobby at all. I actually spent quite a bit more to keep organized and so that I dont have to upgrade other stuff like radios and servos. For example, I hate having a messy pit space and hauling multiple boxes, so I bought the Team Magic 1/8th scale hauler bag to fit the truck in ($190), and then the Airtronics M11 radio with Spektrum setup ($280). It adds up quick, but its not so bad once you have the equipment. Im only a college student on break, working construction because of the fast cash. I was able to afford to race (or at least go to practices) on a part time job during school, but only if I kept ONE vehicle running and not all 3. Id say, if you plan on racing, and dont have a budget, get equipment you know will last and be happy with, like servos, radio, pit bags, tuning equipment. It helps so much in the long run. I started with trying the cheap way...that was the wrong way to go, it was too hard to keep track of what needed to be upgraded to keep up with my learning curve.

do you knoe if the AD2 can hold a .15 engine? Im thinking of waiting for the GT2 because it can use both .12 and .15 engines. I dont know anytihng about nitro so im guessing a good .15 engine will be a lot faster than a got .12 right? If races only allow .12 then there is no choice, but what if they allow .15? what would be the better way to go? Thanks.

Most Racing Stadium Trucks come with .15 engines. The .12 engines can turn more RPMs then most .15 and have just as much HP but less torque. So a .12 engine will take off the line slower but be a little bit faster then a .15 engine. In the dirt this is not a bad thing.

If you are just starting out the RTRs are club level race worthy. I had an AE RTR GT+ for a few years and it was great. Fast and dependable. Losi makes a great RTR with a better radio system.

When I was starting out I bought RTRs and then after I learned how to tear them down then put them back together again I bought kit cars.

My Mugen MTX-3 was my first major kit car and it cost me about $1000.00 to get everything I needed to run this car.
