GS R25M engine question
I just got a GS Racing R25MT engine, and it need rebuilding - almost no compression. It's actually made by SH Engines. I'm not sure how I pull the sleeve, and I could use tips on what else I should replace besides piston & sleeve. Any instructions on how to rebuild this engine? I could not find any at the SH Engines site. Thanks.

For things other than piston and sleeve, check the were the rod connects to the crank, if it has lots of play, it should be replaced. to take out the piston/sleeve take off the head, first take everything off such as exhaust, head, and pullstart, carb, and clutch assembly can stay. now that you have all that off it is time to take the sleeve out, some are easy, some not first try to pull it out by putting your finger in the sleeve and pulling it out, if this does not work rotate the flywheel so the piston is at BDC (bottom dead center) and stick some zipties or something else soft and clean into the exhaust port and rotate the flywheel so the piston pushes up on the sleeve untill you can pull it out. now take the rod off the crank by wraping the zipties or somethng else behind it and pulling, some come out a lot easier and this is not needed. then the piston and rod can come out the top of the motor. I do not think I missed anything here but I may have, if something is not working, do not force it, nothing should be forced, if something is not working post here again, note the way everything comes out, note on the hole in the bottom of the rod, everything should be clean, dont let any dirt into the motor.

This has been EXREMELY helpful! It's my first gas engine, so I really needed some direction. Maybe I can return the favor sometime - electronics is my forte.

A GS SUT CE model. Special limited edition with a serial number, etc. Highly modified - nearly all metal, Should be a nice truck when it's rebuilt.

It's a decent engine. I never had it in my SUT though, I put the .25 in my Storm buggy and a Sirio.27 in the SUT. The buggy RIPS with the .25 though. It's a pretty torquey engine though so it should be nice in the SUT CE. Try to stock up on all the breakables as they are no longer making these models.

No longer making them? No wonder I got what I thought was a great deal...
I did get a s**t-load of parts with it, though.
Is the Storm Buggy the replacement?

The Storm CL-1 is the replacement for the buggy. ALOT of the parts are compatible with the SUT and the original buggy. The replacement for the SUT is the XUT which has a long arm suspension that the SUT shoulda had in the first place instead of the stupid wheel extensions that they put on them instead.

I'll file that info away about the parts being compatible often. That's quite helpful.
Thanks.

You cannot blamr them for the short suspension arms, yea it would be way better with lonk arms but they came out with the sut before there was such thing as long arm truggys.

Very true Nitro Syco. I might try to convert mine to long arm suspension. Khalsans, you don't need to worry too much about parts as they are very plentifull on Ebay and HorizonHobbies.com always has parts too.

So you can convert from wheel extensions to long arm? That might be an interesting challenge.

I have heard of people using arms and cvd's from the Hot Bodies Lightning Pro Truggy, but I haven't seen one in person. I might also give it a try come spring.

check out this site, this section is only for SUT, and some new stuff on the XUT, there is a few sections on the long arm conversion so if you just look around you will find one of the instuctional threads on the conversion.
