MRC 989 question/problem
I recently put togther two charge leads(receiver packs and Futaba transmitter) to hook up to my 989. I cut them from a wall charger and put Tamiya-style connectors on the ends. For some reason the batteries do not charge when I hook up them up to the Tamiya-style connector that comes with the 989, but they will charge when I connect the wires directly to the little green charger connector. Anyone know why this is happening? I would like to be able to use the Tamiya-style connector that comes with the 989 as a universal connector for other charge leads. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Did you get the polarity right?

Yeah, check the polarity, and then also check continuity between the TX/RX lead and the green plug thingy. Make sure the tamiya connector is getting connectivity.

Does the charger come out with an "error code"? Everything should be parallel, from the green adapters to the batteries, red to red, Black to black. Double check your your wiring for continuity, Or else a operator problem or set up on the charger..

The polarity is right. I've even tried charging both ways just to make sure. All I get is an "Open Err" on the screen. For some reason a circut isn't being completed.

Did you check for continuity across the whole thing yet?
You should be able to find the bad connection with an ohmmeter set to the buzzer thing. If you can touch any two points on the same wire (on either side of the connector) and the buzzer doesn't go off, something is wrong between the ohmmeter taps.

Sometimes the tamya pins get pushed out or frayed open real bad.
Polarity warning :: not your problem, but even thought the green plug looks same as 977,969 power plug the polarity has been reversed.

Leave it to MRC to take something simple, like keeping the same polarity in their own line of charges, and completely turn it around backwards to mess everybody up. Some companies get more annoying every day.
