I have tryed to lean it out an then it shifts but the temps are above 300, i have also tryed chainging the shift points in the trans, i am running a 49t spur and a 16t bell, the ony other thin i can think that is causing this is this gear set up. any ideas

As long as you tuned the engine correctly. Your Savage manual will show you how to adjust the shifts of the tranny. Use you allen wrench to adjust. CW will delay, CCW will engage earlier.

Let me reiterate. Tune your carb, then adjust to the powerband of engine to the tranny shifts. points. you'll be fine after that.

Upgrading it to a different engine, you have to tune the engine first. After that! attack the shifting problem. by adjusting the tanny. .. Finish breakin' it in. then adjust the tranny. One problem at a time. Once then engine is fine. Adjust the shift points.

when adjusting the 2speed in is critical 1/16 turn at a time, maybe even 1/32 turn at a time. Be patient, you get it. CW=delayed shift.CCW engages early.

I was having the same issue with my savage x 3 speed tranny and terrible is right as soon as the engine is running great turn to the tranny it took me a while before i got the hang of tuning the tranny especially since i would have to open up mine to tune the middle gear. be patient and it will eventually work out .
