Using a car battery charger with my field charger?

Hello! I'm new at R/C airplanes... Just bought a second hand Parkzone T-28 Trojan; just like new. I have not flown it yet (not flown anything yet). The battery that came with it is a PKZ1030 11.1V 2200mAh 3 cell Li-Po and the field charger is a Parkzone 2-3 cell balancing Li-Po charger, model LP2000-3. Input is 10.5-15.0V DC 3 amp.

Question: To avoid sitting in the car while the battery is being charged through the cigarette lighter, can I use a regular car battery charger set to the 2 amp charge that is plugged into a wall power outlet, and connect my field battery charger to it, using a battery clip power adapter? Is a manual car battery charger better that the auto shut-off ones?

I know that A/C plugin chargers exist but I find that the cost is somewhat high. I can get a regular car battery charger on sale for less than $30.00 Cdn. this week.

Please hurry with some comments, guys...

Thank you very much!

Charger power supply

I don't know if 2amps will be enough to operate the charger #1, #2 the car battery power supply has unregulated voltage which won't help the situation.
If you have access to an old computer power supply that came from a computer that wasn't total junk, but lost it's usefullness then you can remove the power supply from it and with a little soldering of wires can make an excellent power supply for your charger that should have 4-5 amp capacity. There are a number of articles on making the modification if you want to do a google search for: "build pc power supply for battery charger". Or, you can go to "You Tube" and do a search for: "12vdc power supply" and there are several good videos of people building a converted power supply. And it is a good regulated power source. If you don't have a old computer to rob the power supply from you might check some of the computer repair shops and they might sell you (or give you) a power supply for 5-10 bucks.

Check the battery charger out put voltage and make sure it is in the range of the charger. I can't use the battery charger direct because the out put voltage is too high for my charger.
