HPI Blitz gearing question (First Post!)

I have a Blitz that I will be running with a Mamba Max Pro ESC and a Ballistic 17.5 motor. The track is medium sized. Any ideas on gearing?

Here's the best method: use a temp gun and raise or lower the gearing until the motor reaches and stays at about 160 F after a full run. The motor should never reach 180 F.

If you don't have a temp gun, I'm sure one of the nitro guys at the track will let you borrow theirs.

Here's a little irony for you. Most nitro guys tune based on temp and amount of smoke. I personally suggest not using either of these as indicators to tune a nitro engine by. They are both great indicators for tuning electric stuff. If temps are too high, you need to tune and if you see smoke, you also need to tune.

You are a funny guy, Matt!

I have a temp gun. I'll step up a few pinion teeth from stock and try that out. Thanks!
