Tuning the HPI RS4 2

Hi guys,
I just got a used RS4 2, its all stock except for a tuned exhaust. I did a couple of runs today, well, very few runs actually. I'm a newbie to Nitro, so please bare with me
I messed with The needle on the carb, turned it all sorts and now i cant get it to idle correct. infact it just doesnt start now
How and what would be the correct setting for that ?

The other thing, i tried adjusting the idle since i have to move the trim on my radio to minu 2-3 points so that it doesnt engage a gear and move. But i cant seem to get that right either

How do i clean the carb if i have to ?

The Air filter that i have on now is kinda dirty and i cat get one till a few days from now. But i still want to run the car tomm ... is it going to be too bad ?

How would i tune the car to have it run well ? things i should look at ?

i know, i'm totally dumb, but just help me out pls

I would first reset the carb needle. Turn it all the way clockwise til it stops, this is fully closed. Then turn it back counter-clockwise 3 full turns. This will give you a good starting point. Then depending on the weather you can close(clockwise) it to make it leaner or open it(counter-clockwise) to make it richer.

You can take the air filter out and clean it with some warm water and dish soap. Rinse it out real good then let it air dry. Then add a couple drops of shock oil or after-run oil to the filter after it dries to trap the dirt.

If you need more help on engine tuning go to www.hpiracing.com , then instructions and find the link to Nitro RS4 2. It has the full instructions to the car.

The Instructions Page Here should tell you what to do to tune your engine.

I wash my filter in gasoline if its dirty. 3 turns out is where HPI recommends having the carb when breaking it in. It'll be real slow if you run it around at that setting, but it is good when starting your car too. They recommend 1.5 to 2.5 turns out when running the car. Just be sure not to make it too lean. As for your servo, disconnect the throttle linkage from the servo. Now turn your receiver on. That will neutralize your servo. Now you can adjust the length of the throttle servo linkage rod by screwing it in and out of the ball cup till it closes the throttle when the servo is neutral. I'm only a newbie too, though.
