Here are a couple to check out. Do you want 'Ready to Run' or a kit you build? Do you have any RC experience?

For true onroad (not touring) I'd suggest the Serpent Impact.

For true touring I'd suggest the Serpent Impulse. $419 with 2-speed and side-exhaust engine. Pulls 51 MPH with a 1-speed.

Why is it, when people say, "what's a good on road car?" everone suggests touring cars? Come on... gas pan cars are the ultimate in onroad gas racing.

I think when someone says "on road", 9 times out of ten they mean "touring".
As for 1/10 "on road", I'll second the vote for the Serpent Impact (I'll have mine Monday and I'm psyched!) but we really need more info on what you're looking for and how much you want to spend - and how much RC experience you have. I don't thing the Impact is a very good beginner car nor is it an inexpensive entry into RC.
If you are a beginner, there are many good choices you can have a blast with for a reasonable price. For instance, my answer to parking lot fun was the Megatech Nitro Razor XT. They claim this car will hit 60mph! I don't know how fast it really goes (I doubt it does 60) but it screams! It has a .16 engine and a lot of nice goodies for $330 RTR.
Give us some more info and we should be of more help.
good luck
Jay

on road
I will probably get !@#$%^ on for this but here is my opinion
there are alot of good touring cars out there, go with the one that fits your budget, go with the car you know your LHS has parts of, and from a personal standpoint, if you are going to attempt to DIY (do it yourself) go with the design that will not have you up @ 3am pulling your hair out LOL........
I think a good touring car 1/10th scale is the Associated Nitro TC3, the design looks simple and the maintenance of shaft-drive compared to belt-drives is a debate that will always be high on these groups
ultimately choose what you think you can handle
my lil cousin and my friend bought these Yokomo GT-4 ready to run packages for $330........$400 dollars in repairs later they are missing their paychecks
