OS .12TR Air Filter

I just recieved my new OS .12TR and have been working on getting it ready for my GT. I have a question about the OS "Super Air Cleaner" that it came with. Is this a decent filter? Is there something better available?

I really like the Motor Savers filter I'm using on my .12CV but the TR has a 12.7mm outer diameter carb and the CV is 10 or 11mm so the Motor Savers doesn't fit.

So, I'm just looking for alternatives. it looks like 1/8th scale filters are too big and all the 1/10th scale ones I've found are too small. And I'm not too keen on the OS filter design. I guess it's not bad I just have to be extra careful when pulling it apart to clean it so dirt doesn't get in the engine.

Thanks

Steve

Smallest Motor Saver they make for 1/8th scale stuff is 15mm. My carb has a 12.7mm outside diameter...won't work. And nope, not going to force it to work with a zip tie. Just looking for options here, no biggie if there are none aside from the OS. Maybe I can stretch the filter I have onto the TR...

the filter i have really noticed that works well on the TR's is the Team Associated one that comes with there kits it is a 2 part one foam prefilter and paper filter works very well you have to really strecth it to get it over but once it is on it is hard for it to come off

Yeah, I know you are supposed to use a zip tie, but I'd rather not make a 15mm air filter work by squeezing it down with a zip tie. The zip tie should be there to make sure it doesn't come off, not to hold it there in the first place.

Maybe I have a 10mm Motor Savers now, I'll see if I can locate an 11mm one to see if it's a better fit.

Thanks.

The OS Super 102 Air Cleaner is a very good filter. Good performance and outstanding filtration. Just make sure you have the off road filter with 2 foam elements and not the on road single foam element one.

put teflon sealing tape around the carb neck and then put a 15mm filter with a zip tie

THe air cleaner that comes with that TR should be just fine. It's a great cleaner. Just keep it oiled and clean

Ok, thanks for the information. I used a newer Motor Savers on my .12CV engine with good results so I figured I'd use it on my TR. I've had it pretty dirty and it's always stayed clean on the inside.

I was just concerned with the OS filter system gathering dirt in the end of it but if you guys say it's a good filter I'll give it a shot for a while.

BTW, it's a Super Filter 103 that comes with the TR. Looks like alot more filter area than the 102 if that's what's pictured a few posts up.

Thanks again,

Steve
