LiPo FAQ?

I am just researching brushless motors to get some knowledge before jumping in, and have noticed here that several people are using LiPo batteries which I keep hearing are unsuitable for RC cars. Can someone point me in the direction of good information ( factual, unbiased ) on these batteries.

While they seem to have a lot of advantages (especially for the scratch/experimental builder) but I have heard so many horror stories like batteries blowing up, not being able to keep up at high current draw rates, etc.

TIA
