Do you think the Novak 5.5 and 6.5 velocity motors will be faster than the Reedy Neo?

On 6 or 7 cells? I heard the Reedy was a 7.5 turn, anybody know? What do you guys think? I'm seriously considering getting the first system that is released for my new B4,but I may wait on the Novak if it is better( I want a real rocket ). I currently have an old Reedy firehawk stock motor/ Novak fusion combo in the car. It's enough power to be fun but I'm ready for more.

I would like to wait for the Novak because I love the ss5800 that I have in my T3 truck which works perfectly but I've got some money burning a hole . The buggy is just so quick compared to the truck, I can't wait to see what it will do with some real horsepower!

Sensorless systems are still an outside possibilty( I like what I've heard he Lehner basic 5300) but I don't know if I'm ready for that yet.

The 6.5 and 5.5 will most likely be faster. The neo is a 7.5 turn, while the others are well, 6.5 and 5.5.

So the Reedy is a 7.5 turn. The Novaks should be better then for 6 cells since they should have a higher KV. Thanks.

The 5.5 should be even faster than a c40 6t. The 5.5 has .0044 ohms resistance while the c40 has .0052 ohms, so it sits right in between the 5.5 and the 6.5 which should have about .0061 ohms of resistance. You can compare these motors like this because c40 and novak motors have the same rotor dimensions and therefore kv values should be approximately the same for a given wind. Has anyone tried a c40 9s or any 400 9 turn motor? The ss5800 should be slightly faster than that and slower than the c40 8s if my assumptions are correct.

SpEEdyBL - you can't compare the Novak 5.5 to a c40 6t because they use different wind types. The Novak motors are wound in a "wye" configuration, the c40 is wound in a delta configuration. I think the 40 6t will still be the faster motor...

why would they use a wye wind vs. the delta wind? Would it allow the sensors to operate better?

Probably relates to efficiency in the power range they are looking for.

What does the winding style have to do with it? (There can't be that much of a difference.) Amps is a function of resistance and power is a function of amps. It shouldn't be difficult to make a faster motor than the c40 6t or an 8 turn brushed motor. Novak intended these motors for racing. It would be hard to believe that anything less than an 8 turn brushed equivalent would make the cut for their fastest motor.

At the same time though these motors aren't the fastest ones they have because the team drivers used a faster one for some race not too long ago.

Its to bad they are sticking to six cells though. I totally understand where they are coming from, having to be a racing system and all. You cant really stack up on cells in a race vehicle.

Those low turn motors they are coming up with must really pull some serious amps. I cant wait to see the new efficencies on their controllers.
