Worried about 'Cold Heat' battery soldering

I recently picked up one of those Cold Heat cordless soldering irons you might have seen on TV. It seems to work with two electrodes at the tip.
I wonder if it could damage batteries if i build a pack with it?

I have my doubts they're even strong enough to put a battery together..all the ones I've seen fall apart or otherwise break when you start using them for heavy work like batteries.

Not sure if the electrodes would damage the battery but it wouldn't do it any good..don't know if it would harm it. Do yourself a favour and spend $10 on a 60w "real" iron.

Correct, don't bother trying to build battery packs with that thing, it's no where NEAR powerful enough to do the job, & more importantly, it doesn't have nearly enough tip surface area to solder something with as large a surface as a battery(though perhaps for small cells, like 1100mah NiMh, which many racers use in micros it could be ok). I'd also recommend a conventional iron with a MINIMUM of 40 watts & it should be one with a big, broad tip for soldering larger surfaces like batteries(the broad tip is to allow a quicker heat transfer, which makes it easier to get the job done fast without neccessarily needing that much more wattage)......
