Uh-Oh... What are the signs my motor is dead?

Recently my motor in my RC10 has been losing alot of torque... I used to be able to drive in the grass at a good speed and had a pretty high top speed... but recently my top speed has been almost cut in half, i have almost no torque anymore and can barely go through the grass at all. and my battery life is like half the normal legth... it does it with all my batteries so i assume my batteries are okay and its the motor... the ESC doesnt get hot or anything and neither does the motor anymore... any ideas? this is the only motor i have right now so if it dies on me i wont be able to play until i get a new one... and since im planning on getting a T4 or B4 kit soon it means ill have to wait until i can afford the car AND the brushless set... eek...

EDIT: well, i cleaned the brushes a little with a pencil eraser and the car has its speed and power back, and my battery lasts about how it used to. but now im thinking that my comm is going to need cut here soon.. is there a way to do that at home?

also, can anyone who owns a T4 or B4 please leave their AIM/MSN for me, i would like to talk to you about a few things related to the car/truck. thanks.

Comm is probably waaaay overdue for a cutting....If you didnt cut it before and just kept using it, your comm may be uncuttable....

OH! I misunderstood your post. You have an old school RC10 and motor. What cutting your comm means is:

When pulling out your armature from the endbell can (magnets) you chuck the comm into a comm lathe that spins the comm really fast. Then, with your diamond or carbide cutting bit, you shave just a little (or a lot) off the comm, retruing your comm for maximum power.

Heres something that might help you understand a little better:
