Did you reinstall all the system software? you'll lose everything if you don't burn to CD's but it should work.
When you ran the virus scan did it find anything? trogans..ect, if so, stay off the naughty web sites.
When your on your computer, and not online, dose internet explorer pages pop open without you telling them to?, if so.. then you might have advertising viruses on your comp.
sorry i couldn't be more helpful.

download and run AdAware. If that doesn't clear some of the crap off your registry, then maybe you've got a bunk power supply.

firefox is great. I am using it now. I use thunderbird for email too.
As far as you not being able to load pages... are you able to do anything online??
Is there a chance that it is the modem.. or are you high speed?? If you are high speed, is your network card old?? I have had alot of problems in the past with network cards just dying. Let us know more about your connection/situation.

well it still doing it with the network card... just not as bad
its so weird ill download someinthing IE a rc movie, that could be 100megs and it will DL flawlessly, but if i want to surf the web i get about 3-4 pages a shot, then i have to let it sit for like 3 minutes and then i get another 3-4 pages.
I can get more pages using firefox compared to IE. Think its thepower supply? its a 420w turbolink that came with my case. Hopw can i tell if it is my power supply? Its not randomly rebooting or anything like that. Could it be my ram or something? If it was my ram it would just crash IE or mozilla thought wouldnt it?
encase your wondering its a athlon 2500+ (was at 32oo specs but then i set it back to optimized
kingston value ram 512 pc 2700
ati 9800 pro video card
40gb seaggate HD 8mb cahce
120 gb western digital hd 8mb cache
linksys network card v5.1
shuttle motherboard
Runnign on windows XP

he is using mozilla.. firefox is a mozilla product.. the new one.
I would first open up IE, and go to tools, properties, and empty out your temporary internet files. Make sure you click on delete all offline content too.
Then in Firefox, go to tools, options, click on privacy, then delete the cache. It is probably full.
A few other things that can help your PC.
Click on start, programs, accessories, system tools, and go to disk defragmenter. If you really just formatted, you shouldn't need to do this. But for future reference, this helps.
Another thing that can help is to find out what is running on your computer in the background. Your computer is probably running some unneccesary programs and services.
let us know.

I also forgot to add that in the same place you find disk defragmenter, you will see disk cleanup. It is good to run that before you defrag.

So -
You REFORMATTED (talk about hitting a fly with a hammer lol)
Good download -
Lousy Browse -
- Any other system problems? Just browsing, right?
Try this:
Open MSIE
Select Tools->Internet Options from the main menu
Click Advanced
Scroll down till you see HTTP 1.1 Settings
Select "Use Http.1.1", and NOT proxy connections (unless you're using a proxy server, you'd know if you were)
Restart browser, don't need to reboot comp.

Those routers can do some strange things, I have one that if I plug my friends computer in it just stop routing, I would update the firmware anyway, it can't hurt (to much).

Hell yeah old! LOL!!!
Yes, depends, and yes.
I am a web developer. I have to use all browsers, all platforms. So I am not interested in the browser wars one bit. By default, I used to use IE just because it was there.
But recently I had to re-DL FireFox to check a compatibility issue. On first startup, it asks you if you want to import IE bookmarks, which was kind of cool. Brings in all your existing "Favorites," and many of the quick keys - such as F5 for refresh - are identical in FF and IE.
Many say it's faster, I don't find this to be true at all. About the same. But it does have "tabbed browsing - " instead of opening in new windows, you open in tabs so several pages are all in the same window. Click on the tabs to switch back ad forth. A lot of people think this is really hot, I'm not all that jazzed about it but yeah, it's cool.
Strangely enough, I'm using FireFox all the time now, and launching IE only when I want to check a site for IE compatibility, or have two concurrent logins for testing (sets different cookies in the two browsers.) So subconciously I guess I prefer it.
So yeah, it's a good program, pretty much bugless, free, and works really well.

firefox is cool cause it doesnt use activex, the programming that ie uses...although this also affects on how a few sites load (some embedded players dont work), it also keeps those malicious (as microsoft would put it) scripts from running since they use activex to gain control...but what ive come to like about firefox is the tabbed browsing, plenty of plug-ins to make it look better, run more tasks, or even load faster (yes, this is possible, look up "fasterfox")...plus, it just looks better than ie...
