mamba maxx for pede!
Im getting ready to go brushless on the stampede, and from what I've read the mamba maxx is the way to go. My question to you guys is which one to go with? I'm not looking to set speed records or anything I just want more power than the stock titan offers and I would like the reliability and lack of maintence that the brushless offers. Basically Im looking for any suggestions as to which one to get that would be the best all around. Thanks in advance!

with Mamba Max, you can use Trinity N80 sensorless brushless it's looks like a good choice.

The 4600 is probably the best for a stampede. I have a 5700 in a Rustler, but that's a little lighter than a stampede so it's easier to get away with. Plus, with the 4600, you'd be able to run 3s lipo or higher cell counts if you really wanted to up the speed some.
One question though: is your transmission stock? If it is, you may want to grab the steel ringed gear diff from the VXL trucks, the steel idler, and the steel planetary gears for inside the diff. Most brushless systems will obliterate the stock tranny in a few runs if you're really gettin' on it.

I wish I would have bought the 4600. The 5700 works well also but you don't have many gearing options and it's really not well suited to the truck on 3s. The 6900 is what I have in mine and I am unable to gear it low enough. The tires are too big apparently.
I will second what ET said ... definitely make sure you get the steel gears for the transmission, and if your stampede is old, replace the slipper with the new XL-5/Revo style one.
Make sure you don't use crummy batteries either. At least some 3300mAh NiMH cells. I wound up buying a 2s lipo for my setup which is about perfect, but if you go using cheap batteries, you'll notice a huge drop in power compared to good packs.

I already have the transmission problem solved, I went all metal in it when I stripped the stock idler gear with the titan. The slipper clutch is the revo-style. The batteries I have right now are Venom 7-cell 5000mah. Also, are the traxxas high current connectors good or should I switch to Deans plugs. Is there any other upgrages I need or anything else I need to know before i buy the 4600? Thanks for all your help guys

The Mamba Max can take 100 amps, the Sidewinder is only about 70 amps. For the 4600, it would probably be fine, but with the big tires and heavier truck, you will have more room to play with the Mamba Max. The Sidewinder is only rated for 2S on the 5700, but is okay with 3S on the 4600. It is now up on their web site induer products, right next to the Mamba Max.
The price of the sidewinder is tough to pass up, but the built in USB port and higher current capacity is also nice to have. B-P-P has the Mamba Max 4600 package for under $190 again. I wonder if they will carry the Sidewinder?

Bearings, Upgrade to the new 5x11 and replace your carriers and steering blocks to Aluminum. They have them in one package, I shredded the smaller bearings. IMO this is a must.

I missed this one...
Either Deans or Traxxas connectors are good. Just stay away from the soft white plastic crap. They will melt in no time. I use Deans everywhere (went to them before the Traxxas existed) and they have not let me down yet.

Thanks so much for all your help! I already have the rpm carriers and the 5x11 bearings so I'm gonna stick with that for a while and if it breaks I'll change then. I know I'm gonna be going with the mamba max but still can't decide between the 4600 and the 5700. Whats the performance difference between the two.

I would have to recomend the 4600. I run a 5700 in a Losi XXX-T and on just 2S LiPo, I am at just over the slowest ratio I can fit. If I remember right, the Stampede has the bigger tires on it, so you will want lower rpm still to be useful. Keep in mind the Traxxas VXL motor is only a 3500, so the 4600 is a 30% step up in rpm over the "70 mph" capable system. RPM is not power. Choose the rpm that gets the gearing in range for the speed you need.
