XBR/SS+ hybrid ESC on 3s lipo

I have an original SS5800 motor with a sintered rotor in it, which is run by my "franken ESC". It's essentially an XBR ESC with SS+ firmware on it.

So as the title says, curiosity got the best of me. I decided to hook up my 3s 1350mah lipo that came with my Trinity NOW to the XBR/SS+ ESC. The result? It worked fine. Now, this was after a run so the 3s lipo was only hitting about 10.58v (so says my digital multimeter). I didn't really drive my TT-01 (car that the XBR is in) for very long. Just a quick stab of throttle in my room, forward and backward, brake, etc. Seeing how it'd all react. So far so good.

I'm now charging up the 3s lipo, and may test it tonight in the TT-01. I have to see which capacitor I have on there though. I know it's not stock, but I forgot the voltage rating (it may be a 16v, which may not have enough overhead for voltage spikes perhaps?).

Just thought I'd inform you folks of my doings so late at night....

Nevermind. I'm not going to test a fully charged lipo on it after all. The capacitor is a 5600uf 10v unit, so I'd be way over just the cap's voltage limit. I'd rather not pop or ruin the cap either since it's one of those expensive Novak ones... D'oh! The stock cap must've been a 16v unit IIRC.

very interesting. how did u mod the firmware?

would u say the SS+ is as robust as the XBR or more so?
