Cool Speed calculation

Dear all,

I have one question that I cannot get out of my mind.

How do I calculate the theoretical speed at wich a boat will plane?

If you're building a model based on an already built full size (prototype) boat, you can calculate the scale speed. Divide the prototype hull speed by the square root of the models scale. Let's say that you're building a 1:12 th scale model of a boat that goes 100 mph; the square root of 12 is 3.464; 100/3.464 = 28.9 mph.
