so the painting world now...????
Ok I kinda of been out of the whole painting loop for a bit but I am thinking about getting back into after the holidays...I actually miss airbrushing.
So for all the Pro painters out there,if you dont mind me asking....is buisness the same or has the economy taken its toll on painting (jobs).....I dunno its seems to be like a dying art form????
any insight?thanks

Seems like amny of the old set of painters have hung it up, some new ones have joined, and a core few have been very busy.
Personally, I have been steady at the level of work I am ok with, so I cannot complain. But if I were looking to make a decent wage from it, it would be tough.

I am up about 30% from last year. This year I have only painted about 50 bodies. Not near where some of the others are. There are several painters that came on board, but who knows how long they will last. Some that have come on, have great skills and are making some step up and out of their comfort zone. I know I am taking more jobs that I probably would not have a couple years ago. More because I have got a little better and challenging myself.
I agree with Dave. If you are looking to make a decent wage, it will be hard. The people that want the paint jobs havent changed. They want a lot for less. There are still the customers out there that understand how difficult a decent paint job is and are will in to pay a decent price.

I am actually busier this year than I have been in the past. But I have been advertising more on forums, and getting my work out there. Added a website etc. Baja's and the larger scales seem to be where its at, for me anyways.

I haven't been airbrushing much lately. I am doing a custom order this weekend though. I was painting R/C bodies full time for the last 10 years though. I've made as much as $100.00 an hour painting bodies for ebay and people. Still could, the work is out there.

AD,
Either you are getting very fast at painting, or getting MAJOR $$$$ for what you do.

100, an hour is the most I've ever made off bodies. Most of the time it's 20.00 to 30.00 an hour. Sometimes more sometimes less...
