brushless slayer pro performance

this past winter i built a brushless slayer pro. first time i drove it i thought it was wicked! but on the track i was showed up by almost everyone. im not the best driver but im not bad...

was wondering about some upgrades so that i could be a little competetive. found some carbon fiber chassis plates for a revo. i think they will fit. is a carbon fiber chassis worth it? dont have a sway bar yet. not sure i need it. still have the 2 speed. gonna change that someday but not sure what trans is best.

im looking to cut weight and make it overall a better racer. any ideas are appreciated. thanks!

ps i was wondering what bodies will fit. a slash 4x4 will not.

Assuming you were in the 4x4 SC class? The slayer will get eaten up. Only electric 4x4 I've driven is the slash, and while my slayer is nitro, the slash is far lighter and more nimble. Then you've got other trucks out there with a lower CG and it's going to be hard to compete with those.

Think you're on the right track with weight reduction...chassis, lighter pushrods and turnbuckles, etc. and while that may get you better, you've still got a fairly high COG and a somewhat heavy truck. Spend time tuning, tweaking, and praciticing and you may get in the ballpark. Gonna be an uphill climb though.

Revo swaybars fit perfectly, and I do not know of any other bodies offhand for the slayer.

The issue you have with the Slayer is weight transfer due to the super high center of gravity. The 4x4 Slash drives like a dump truck compared to an SC10 4x4, and my SLayer was a dump truck compared to my Slash 4x4. If you can keep it TIGHT and SMOOTH in the corners, don't stay in the throttle too long on the straights, and avoid making mistakes that involve the truck being upside-down or more than a foot so away from the inside of the pipe, you can probably do pretty well. However, when you're doing all of that and you're still turning 32 second laps while the fast guys are turning 30s and low 31s, the only thing that's really going to help enough to gain the last second or so is a new, lighter, more appropriate truck. If you're 3-4 seconds off of a fast lap, it doesn't matter a whole lot what you're driving... need to work on keeping the line tighter!

Aside from that, anything that will get the CG lower and reduce overall mass is a good thing. The main issue I think you have with the Slayer is the high CG transferring so much weight to the outside tires. It just isn't going to work quite as well as a truck that has a lower CG.
