my first real rc was a hornet, when i was 8, still have it,
i luv it still!! then my uncle gave me a sand scorcher, man i
wish i still had it!! then it exploded to a collection of tamiyas,
put it all away in late 80s, pulled it all out again in 2000, found
that the the hobby shops call em CLASSIC tamiyas, took me a
few LONG months to find ebay, now im back in action!!!!!!
and i even have some new rides!!!
I LOVE MY OLD TAMIYAS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tamiya Mud Blaster - Indentical to the Blackfoot except for the tires and and the body... Had the retro Brat body. Still have it along with a few others from that era: Lunchbox, Hornet and a Kyosho Hi-Rider Vette.

Carlson 1/8:th scale on-road nitro car for me, back in 83, it was the coolest rida at the racetrack, and quite a way to get started for me ! I promise you, I spent more time cursing that nitro engine since it never wanted to obey my command to start than I did driving the car itself!

I had a slew of cars
let me see... first i had the super champ from tamiya which was a great car except that those aluminum back axle arms would snap if you snagged the tire on something... expensive P.O.S.
then i had a hornet which was great with the floating suspension until you cracked the chassis where they screwed in... then you're gear box would drag on the ground... so i ended up turning it back into a grasshopper with oil shocks...
then i jumped on the Mauri bandwagon with the Big Bear, which was a cool truck but the gear box with those 15 pitch gears would strip after one wheelie... and when it first came out i waited about six months for replacements...
so i opted for a blackfoot, which i also blew the additional 35 for the Thorp diff for it... that car kicked butt... although the high center of gravity on it out of the box made it a tipping nightmare but it still ran tough...
then i got a clod buster which was a great toy... pricey but a lot of fun i have to say...
sold my blackfoot and got a King Cab which was one kickbutt truck out of the box... i actually raced it and won a few A-mains and with the weight of it tore up some little kids cars on the track... that was a hoot...
then i got serious into racing and bought the first Losi truck ( the XT i think) and after racing it once went and bought the Associated 10T truck which was a whole lot better...
but now it's time for some gas fun... goodbye batteries...

Haven't seen on of these listed yet. How about a Mugen Manx. Thinking about the mid 80s?
