When is it too cold to run nitro?

Are there some things to look out for when you run nitro in cold weather? I don't mean snow or ice. I am talking about temperature (not engine temp). I know plastic gets more brittle. Is it ok to run in 30 degree weather?

YOU MAY HAVE TO RICHEN THE FUEL A BIT. THE MOTOR WILL MAKE BETTER POWER WHEN ITS COLD. YOU MAY ALSO GET SOME FROZEN CONDENSATION @ THE INTAKE ALSO

So the cold won't lessen the integrity of the engine or damage the fuel?

whats the big deal about shortening engine life? Seems everyone is way to worried about that on this list. A new piston and sleeve is only like 50 bucks tops unless your running a big engine. I say run the **** out of it man have fun stop tip toeing around if it blows up rebuild it thats part of the hobby. Hell if my engine gives up the ghost i can be back up and running after 50 dollars and 2 and a half hours and that include the trip to the hobby store and break in. just my 2 cents

Run it richer, watch for ice up and if it blows up its not the end of the world. Call purplers and he'll next day out the parts to you.

its too cold when your di(k freezes and falls off. hehe i think you'll be fine just richen it up and put after run oil in it at night so no moisture gets in it. take ALL the fuel out at night so if it doesn't freeze and wont turn into gelatin (sp)

heat er up with a hair dryer before you run it, makes it start nice and easy, if it is hard to start in cold weather.

in the winter i usually run my car later in the day when it's not so cold, not in the mornings when it is really cold.

OK, I get all your points. It seems that they can run in anything cold weather)as long as you take care of it meaning keep the moisture out. Thanks.

Love the hair dryer idea. If I'm away from the house, I set the car on my front passanger floor board and blast he heat. Let sit it for a couple minutes. This seems to work well too.

Like a real car, I just let mine idle for a few minutes to get some heat into the engine.

Because the air is denser, you will have to richen it a little.

Me and unsoshabl run out here (North Dakota) year round. We've learned 2 things....Plastic breaks easy in -20 weather and work out your pull starting arm cause it takes a good 5-10 minutes of yanking on yer starter to get em going. Its fun once ya do, un's got Sand Paws on his RC10, loves to rooster tail snow on people. I think by the end of this winter both our cars will have no plastic parts left, after we break one we get it made with metal or graphite. Remember to balloon your receiver if ya go in snow. You can check out our last Snow Adventure here.

I place my T-MAXX on floor mat of my car, select blower fan to "feet" and set heating to the maximum and let it soak up the heat real good for 5 mins.

Works like a charm every time!

I know you have to richen it up a little, but do you have to adjust both high and low needle settings??

On my .15 Hyper, I richen the HS only by 1/4 turn. LS stays as is. Results may vary.

I'm with purplers, I usually take it easy on my first two tanks of fuel, run it a little rich. then I just give it all heck. I dont even use after run oil. Ive been playing with nitro engines for about 7 years, not that I run them every day but I still havent lost an engine yet. I suppose if your young, havent got a job and its up to your parents to buy you a new engine, I can see where you might be a little more careful. As for me if I blow the sucker up I guess I'll just buy a new one. Hey buggyboy I now exactly where your coming from, I live about 20 - 30 miles from you. where almost neighbors. Take care all, and keep pounding them engines, nothing lasts forever.

Only 50 buck! Heck! If you had to work a month during the winter to get 5o bucks it wouldn't be "only" 50 bucks anymore now would it!
