I will look into getting sponsors to donate for our last race of the season, which will be called the "Down East Duel"

Hey Chris, I ran Ernies 12th scale a few weekends ago at RW. It was fast with the 4 cells. I'm building 2 12th scale cars right now, 1 for asphalt and 1 for carpet. Both are T-plate cars, so I have to run 4 cells also. I needed a new chassis for my CRC car but I got a great deal on the chassis and parts lot from Steve Beasley.

I also have some cells for cell, matched 6 and 4 cell packs. They are at Glenn's right now on his consignment table. I will also be adding a discharger tray and nimh/nicad charger capable of 7am charge/30 amp discharge with AC power built in

Yeah your 12th scale always worked good on the track. If you can remember the setup let me know. I'm going to stop by Ernies this week so I will take a look at it.

setting up something at work that is a product we have

basically you all will be able to call a number and it will tell you if we are racing on a particular date due to possible weather concerns and so on.

it will even let you try and reach me (and anyone else that wants to be on the list.....) to talk or send a text to.

Tim S.
Only one recommendation for this series. Most of the people at RW i have spoken to want to run 17.5 Touring instead of open mod. We ran 17.5 last year at RW and it's plenty fast enough, so i would recommend a 17.5 class and open mod. We are currently re-doing the track at RW and think everyone will enjoy it. We tested a GT and 17.5 car and the traction is awsome!! Timmie and i will be out at the track this week designing and laying out the new design. Anyone with extra time on their hands is welcome to come out and help. Thanks
Glenn

I'm fine with 17.5, but do we really want both?

Need a show of hands racers...
-17.5 TC
-OPEN MOD TC
-BOTH

I'm working all week, but can probably come out Saturday to help with the track some... LMK

I don't care, I'm doing GT.

But I think ONE class would be preferred. Likely just 17.5

I'd like to make it out to a couple of the rounds at Goldsboro.

After this past weekend, though, I'm kinda tired of dealing with the poor driveability of boosted motors (especially with a Tekin). When will the nonsense go away?

I would love to see both of them get run.

I would imagine that Justin L. & Tim H. would want to run mod & so does Brian B., but it would be nice to have more than just two or three in that class.

I agree with Brian in that playing with the boosted setup is a hassle, but as they say... "it is what it is".
With mod, if you need more speed, go to a lower turn motor... and you don't need a $160-$200 ESC with laptop in tow. Plenty of sub $100 ESC's around that will do the job just fine.

On the other hand, most of us have 17.5's, Tekin's & laptops... so we are sort of used to the inconvenience.

Either way is fine by me. I just prefer NOT to have more classes than we have drivers.
So PLEASE, everyone put in your vote and of course we can discuss it more Sunday at the Wood.

It's on like Donkey Kong

Pete, the track just got resurfaced and they are working on putting down the "layouts" this week. Maybe be open for practice and/or racing next weekend?
I would imagine you should be able to practice on Sundays, but the hobby shop and pit area would be closed.

The website has been updated to show BOTH a 17.5 AND Open Mod TC class in both the "Class Rules" and "Entry List" sections.

https://sites.google.com/site/downeastchamp/home

Please let us know which classes you intend to run so we can hit the ground running on the first race day which is April 30th.

Thanks.

My opinion for touring classes would be, 17.5 no boost, mod, Touring GT. This way there will actually be some class separation as far as speeds are concerned.

17.5 boosted is fast and will be somewhat close to open mod as far as lap times, but if you want to go fast you should run mod.
