Very nice! My S'n'S Mustang has some HPI 6-spoke chromes w/ HPI radials.
But I wrapped'em in electrical tape for some DIY drift action!

thanks, this is "before drift car shot"! its got some battle scars now
about 45 battery packs later
worn through stock slicks
worn through a set of abs drift tires
90% through those 4-tec rubbers
the splines ripped off of the rear ball diff about 10 packs ago...
i took the gear diff from the front and it is 2wd now
i hear parts work from a dirt thrasher that was re released tho...
wonder if they have gear diffs all around?

I've got a Gravel Hound coming in any day now, and I can tell you that the DF01 and DF02 ball diffs and gear diffs are definitely swappable. Just as your front and rear diffs are swappable as well (but you already knew that )
In fact, I have a TA02 w/ dirt thrasher arms and half-shafts. It widens the stance a bit, giving it that real-to-life "Baja 1000" feel
Here is my TA02 lot thus far. I have another roller, a Hummer 1025, and Ford F150 stadium truck on the way hehe
And here is my DIY drifting 'stang.

that s-10 is bad ass!
i love drifting my ta02 on ABS
i took the stock wheels after i wore through the tires and pressed 2" abs pipeing over them works great!
i also made some adjustable rear camber turnbuckles, installed a bearing kit, and a esc with a 27 turn p2k2 pro...
its pretty quick and handles high and low speeds very well!

I hope it's ok to post my auction for a TA-02 Celica here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...3012&rd=1&rd=1
It's a really amazing example of this kit. Worth bidding on for the body alone.

TA02 Upright Replacements
 Hi fellow TA02 owners!
I was wondering if any of you know if I can swap my TA02 front uprights (knuckles) with ones from another chassis? I know the ones of a TA03 will work, well at least according to the Tamiya website they will, but they're out of stock.
I broke the right side trying to adjust the toe on mine and for the life of me I can't find replacements anywhere in the states. I was looking at the TA01 uprights and they look like they'll work but I can't say for sure and don't want to waste the cash if they won't.
I'm willing to change out the entire front suspension if I have to! Please, any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
-Jason

Jason,
Yes, the TA01's will work just fine. Here's a link from Tower. I know for a fact that the TA01/TA02 parts are interchangable. I do it all the time

By the way
The hub carrier requires 2x 5x11mm bearings each. Don't want you getting them confused with the TA02 uprights that take 5x11 and a much larger bearing on the inside of the carrier.

God Bless you XXWoodManXX, man I appreciate it. This thing has been sitting on my shelf for 3 years now out of action and I've been itching to rip it around the local walking track since then. Just within the last few days have I started up my search again for this part.
Just one more question for you; I'm running the stock motor on here now, would it make any difference to change it out for the Tamiya RS540 Tuned Motor? Everything is bone stock on this chassis now and I was concerned about how the stock gears and shafts would take the extra power. I'd like it to have some more "umph" but at the same time I don't want to rip the stock gears/driveline out (assuming they're that fragile, I'm not too seasoned when it comes to R\C cars). If you have any suggestions on another brand motor I'm open.
Thanks again,
-Jason
Edit: I'm not sure which bearings I'm suppose to be buying, are these it?

Jas,
As far as bearings, those are it. If you need to buy the EHTIRE set, that is. If you just want bearings for those new front hubs ONLY, then Duratrax has ya covered, and for alot less.
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXD121&P=ML
As for motors, I would suggest something moderately fast, but not uncontrolable. Perhaps Trinity's SpeedGems line? Or get something along the lines of 19-turns or more. The gears are nylon and they're pretty strong, As long as you follow the chart Tamiya provides, you should be set. And don't forget speed control, either. What're you running now? The mechanical speed control, or an electronic? Brand/model?

Cool man, that price on those bearings shocked me a little. I didn't think I would need that many! I'll get those from your link. The speed controller I'm running now is a Duratrax Spike DTXM1040. From the spec sheet I found on the internet, it says this ESC is for 27T Stock motors. Is that going to present a problem if I upgrade?
I'm going to order all of these things from Tower Sunday night so if you can think of anything else I might need please let me know.

Jason,
The link I provided you with on those bearings is for two, and you need four, so just remember to order 2 sets, ok?
Your ESC leaves almost NO room for upgradability. 27T would be strictly stock class only. As far as upgraded ESCs go, here's a good, affordable line I would recommend:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...=++&search3=Go
It's the Duratrax Intellispeed line of speed controllers. As you can see, the prices on them are VERY reasonale, and they all have reverse, and reverse lock-out (for racing purposes) I personally have the Intellispeed 12T, and that leaves me ALOT of room for modified motor selection. Now, several racers would recommend a No Limit ESC, and run something along the lines of a 10T or a 9T motor (VERY fast!). I say just get the most bang for your buck here. If you're just looking to bash, I doubt you'll need something TOO insane.

tamiya carbon chassis top plate
will the tamiya carbon chassis top plate work with the tub chassis? apparently, the chassis conversion kit with all the mounting hardware is hard to find.

I finally received all of my parts and I've ran into a bit of a problem with the uprights:
Here's the original TA02 upright with TA02 halfshaft:
Here's the TA01 upright with the TA02 halfshaft:
As you can see the the halfshaft is too short to work with my new upright.
Do I need to order the halfshafts for a TA01 now? Or do you guys modify these somehow to work together? I'm not sure if "halfshaft" is the proper term, correct if I'm wrong on that.
Thanks,
-Jason

Jason. Well, looks like I screwed the pooch and forgot to mention that you need the TG-10 cup axles for it, too. My bad.
Here is the link for them
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXGM41&P=X
Once again, real sorry for that. I TOTALLY forgot that you need a diff. set of axles, too.
EDIT: As for the halfshafts, I believe you'll be just fine, since the spacing between the ball cups are the same.

No worries Woodman, it's not a problem. I got them ordered and should be in business by the weekend!
I'll post some pics up when I'm done with everything, I'm converting it over from the factory Tamiya Skyline GTR shell over to an HPI Subaru Impreza WRX with some HPI wheels/rear wing.
Thanks again for all the help.

did tamiya only make the front/rear FRP shock towers and the rear sway bar for the 4WD ta02 not the fwd ff01?

Hi woodman,
you mentioned you have tamiyahummer and tamiya gravel hound..
i was wondering if the Suspension arm of Gravel Hound both the front and rear
will fit with hummer chassis?
i want to replace the stock suspension arm of hummer(TA02)
into DF02 aluminum suspension since its still available today.
also want to make it wider.
DF02 suspension arm is available here
http://www.yeahracing.com/catalog/in...cPath=29_55_70
will it fit?

FRP chassis set
i recently purchased the frp chassis plates and j parts only and do not have any of the other hardware such as screws and steering posts. does anyone have a scan of the instructions or a part number for those other parts? or can anyone answer the following:
is the top plate supposed to be slightly arched?
what screw is to be used for the second mounting post for the servo?
has anyone tried alternative steering posts?
thank you!

Hey matter,
I've since sold both the Hummer and the GH back around Thanksgiving or so. Sorry I could not be of assistance to you.

By dual motor/dual gearbox, what are you referring to? The Tamiya Detonator chassis? or Clodbuster chassis?
