I would say the Team Associated GT. It has the fastest motor in my opinion for a RTR off-road. VEry durable and you can even be raced the way it is without any major changes to it. Also it come with a glow igniter and fuel bottle which with my RTR's you have to buy separate. Id check it out.....

The fastest nitro off-road RTR is the OFNA Pirate 10 MT ready-to-run, as tested by the RC magazine, Radio Control Car Action. This truck goes 50+ mph. You can also add a 2 speed if you want more speed. I have one for sale. I will ship internationally. E-mail me at Pajel5@msn.com

^^^ He's right, the p10m is the fastest off-road truck for $300. It is 1/10th scale, 4wd, and .21 powered! RCCA tested it at 49.3mph with 20% fuel. It has unbelievable torque and will turn the tires into saucers from the balooning. The only problem before was the plastic hubs broke easily, they now have been replaced with cast pieces. The Gt is by no means slow, but compared to others it is, take the rustler 2.5. It's the fastest 2wd ST thats rtr. Will run in the upper 40's but will cost a tick over 300 dollars. The XNT sport is also faster than the gt, even with the restrictor out. It will run almost 39mph while the GT runs near 36mph w/o restrictor in.
Pretty much all the trucks out there are a great deal for them money. So you cannot go wrong!
BTW, the new XTM ST that comes with a .18 rear exhaust engine and a nice pipe with aluminum shocks will be a very good deal. so keep your eye out for that.

Nitro Rustler 2.5 is one of fastest if not the fastest, but I would still consider GT RTR or NT RTR. They are better handling truck.

A 1/8th buggy as mentioned above will run at speeds of 38mph (as tested in RC Car the magazine), they seem to go alot faster though because they are so darn big! 1/8th buggy's are also some of the most durable RC's out there, Take a look at them.

Uh.... By the way on pg. 112 of the March 2003 RCCA it say the Ultra LX pro goes 46 MPH. That fastidious to me. And cheap.
