Hey 2speed, what mods have you done besides using a new tuned pipe to get upto 60mph? Slap in a .12cvr or a Fantom for some real speed. My M16 can get me upto there but I still would like something else. Not sure how I'll spend my $$...either on a new engine, or just get a new exhaust system, spare rims and other things. Still thinking bout that MT12 in my LHS for $174.99. I have like $230 now. Hoping to get a discount on it and get a THS exhaust system together. All that leaves is the starter box.

i just got the tuned pipe and header....i also drilled 8 holes in the stock flywheel...also im getting the longer spur gears....the 43 and 47....i will the longest gear setup....so i might even be at 60+...i plan to also remove the shim between the heat sink and the block to raise compression...i should be at 60+ with all that....and i plan to get a 1.8 horsepower motor by summer...

just go on rc car action's website and use their speed calculator to figure out your absolute fastest possible top speed

You'll need your engine max RPM the tire diameter and the final drive ratio (hardish to calculate. You need to take all the gears into acccount including all the diffs.)

pictures

here's those pictures I keep talking about.

First the body on:
I broke a body post and the bumper recently in a get together with a ld3 (kicked his ass in the race though!) so thats the scratches and the reason it sits low.

just the body. You can really see the damage to the front here. Its okay though, I made this as a basher body and all that is is something to remember my first kill by!

Even if you dont like the color and decals, you gotta admire the cutting on that big ass GTR on the hood.

It was a single, and the motor seemed really wheezy the whole time. I out cornered, and blew his ass away on the back straight. He did out accelerate me but start to run outta steam fairly early, However his motor sounded way too lean and really lacked any top end punch.

The tires are 26mm (stock width) and they are the Duratrax rubber slicks. They are a VAST improvement over the stock meats. Plenty of traction for bashing and play racing, although they get kinda squirrely at speed. If I wanted to race a little more seriously than just racing people I bump into in parking lots, I'm going to get foams or much nicer slicks, ptobably pre glued as well since I had my glue job come loose once and roll me.

The driver in the ld3 must have suxxed cause im sure my ld3 will out corner yours. But its all about the skill not really the car.

yeah he might of, or the cars might just be both competitive...the sfgp has a lot of potential in it...it can handle just as good as any tother car out there once the wobble and slop is out of the from suspension....my car has no wobble at all, and when i got it, it was terrible but captured ball ends fixed that....also this car is light..weighs in onli at 3.1 pounds...thats prob the lightest 1/10 scale car out there...with a big motor, and proper modding this car is competitive, and i will prove this to people...:-)

yeah, once the slop is all taken up, it can be a very nice car. But it will never get any respect since its a duratrax. The only big thing the car has going against it is the somewhat high c of g, mostly caused by the height of the gas tank.

I plan on milling out a slot in the chassis to accept the lower fuel take up, and lower the tank a good 1/2 inch, once my warranty is all gone. ( I know, I know "a rock could peirce the tank!" yeah well...then I can throw a oil slick like james bond!)

Maybe your LD3 could out handle my SFGP. I dont know. Have you ever tried a SFGP? I do know I was carrying a good bit more speed than the ofna, and it could be the cars are competitive, or it could be my style. I use a lot of rear wheel steering and brake very late to induce oversteer. I had him by the third turn and never looked back for the rest of the 3 laps.

I dont doubt the LD3 is a superior machine, all I say is I dont think the SFGP is a bad as you think. If you get a chance to try a well cared for and set up SFGP give it a try. You'll be surprised.

I imagine the SFGP gets its bad rap because it is mostly driven by extreme newbies who set them up poorly and never try to / cant get it right or have zero mechanical skill or experience.

yeah that gas tank is a little silly...i'd actually like to install a different one..any1 know of any that will fit?....i think that there are a few sfgp's out there that are pretty impressive, and actually make people think twice bout this car, but like you sed it's a duratrax, and it will never get respect no matter how good we've made em...:-(....i still love it tho...:-D

yeah I love the little car. I've gotten people to let me run their TC3's, HPI's, and even a serpent (NICE!!!) but I still love the SFGP. It just gets it done for me, for way less money than the other cars (esp. the serpent).

Now, when/ if I race, I want a Corally Assassin Shapeshifter electric...all that carbon is just sexy

I have only drove a street force once and that was a long time ago. It was fast as hell on the straight but even with foams I couldn't handel it in the infieild. Taht may be because I don't think it was setup rite.

yeah i mean a lot of cars are good, even the cheaper ones, as long as the are done right, and even setup right...i respect anything thats fast....but i respect cars that get no respect, and dey teach people a thing or two...

yeah it probably was set up wrong. One thing people seem to get wrong is the SFGP has to be set so it is LOW. Most cars only give you a choice between low and lower. The rear suspension on the SFGP will get off road buggy high (I'm not kidding) and comes from the factory set that way, you have to do some serious suspension tinkering to get the car to be right.

Yea I don't think mine will go that high but it will go so low it's scrapin the ground. As with probally any car you will have to get so toe in to make it grip. I was practincin at the track erlier and came into a crash with a MTX-3. Hit the boards to hard and engine shifted on the mounts and stripped some gears. AGIAN WITH THE SAME CAr... Those gears cost 10 buxxs a piese.

and there is the one big drawback to the sfgp, no rear toe adjustability.

thats why my sfgp got an advantage...with the cf shock tower and the hpi rear A arms i get more of an horizontal shock placement....:-D and also get a lower ride height...you can see in these arms (these are the hpi's which are also longer, which gives the car a wider stance....) you see the two holes to place the spring....i placed it in the hole closest to the wheels....which gives it the lowest stance possible....
