Running Out Of Nitro

Hey guys/Girls.

It's me again...Yes another probably laughable question :

I have my engine all broken in, and it is at 2 and one half turns out so is it ok to run out of gas so my truck stops due to to nitro???

If it help it is a Duratrax TORQ .16

This question also came up becasue it says pinch the fuel line to shut-off which i have been doing for 4 tanks.

(I also did a search to see if this kind of thread was made and there wasnt)

Welcome aboard Arr-Cee!

When you run out of fuel, the engine leans out right at the end, and there are those that will say this puts undue stress on the moving parts - lean = less lubrication. Being that it only happens for a few seconds, I'm going to say no, it shouldn't hurt anything. Additionally after I've run for the day I'll put it on the starter box with the glow plug in to burn off any excess, chase it with a teaspoon of after run oil down the carb air inlet only - no need to remove the glow plug, turning the engine over gets enough of it into the piston/sleeve.

'Cause you're new, if you don't know about ARO - nitro fuel is mostly alcohol, alcohol attracts water, water corrodes metals, ARO is used to displace water and prevents corrosion.

Thanks for the info.

I just didn't want to ruin my engine any time soon.
