Center diff
Since all the outlaw monster trucks use a center diff, I might start looking at stuff to make a center diff. Take a diff from another car and screw a gear on it.

Well one failed sitting on the shelf and not wanting to risk loosing the other in the air I figured steering on a truck is a pretty safe place for it. After using it I can honestly say I now know why people are inclined to spend the money for them.

Hmmmm, you make a convincing argument! I might have to look into that...

I'd suggest looking around eBay for an assembled diff out of a buggy or truggy with a tooth-count that closely matches what you're using now. It's not a bad idea if you're racing. For bashing, however, I prefer a solid center link.

I found GPM spurs in both delrin and alloy that go to 53T. Does anybody have hands on experience with the savage delrin spurs?

No, spur gears go on the tranny's input shaft and are spun by the clutch bell. The gears that go on the outside of the diff are called ring gears.

Dont remind me of the MT2 SS18-kit...I ordered one at Towerhobbies and after 45 days they let me know they lost the package. I can get a replacement but only with UPS and i should pay for the additional costs
Anybody got tips where i can order a new one and dont have to worry about if they will actually deliver?
Thanks,
J

If you get USPS priority the package will get lost less.
I put in a metal brake and put new pads on. When I was putting the brake on and pushing the car back and forth that I heard something making a clicking noise because of the stress. I think tranny cases are bending apart. I might get the aluminum tranny cases to make it more solid.
I remember the first runs I has with it, something was snapping on the drivetrain. It was when I landed from small jumps.
I suppose I can adjust the slipper.

Does anyone know why I can't get my slipper clutch to slip? I have it turned all the way out and it still ate through the spur. It definately is way too tight.. I have no idea why it is like that.

HAha, that brings my other point. To save the gears I turned my slipper all the way out and its still seems it is way too tight. I think the slipper for this car is just an end all safety feature. I don't think mines slipped an inch all the times I ran it.
I would disassemble it and cut the spring a little.
I am still weary of the drivetrain clicking that causes me not to want to run it. If I apply full brakes and throw it at the ground front wheels first somthing clicks. Does this happen to anybody elses truck?

when something clicks while braking that usually meens you have a diff or gears going south.check all the set screws on the drive cups.if that dont fix it pull the diffs out and check the gears and bearings

combatcm- is it kinda like a sound similar to a chassis hitting concrete like a garage? kinda a dull but loudish sounds? and is it anytime you drop it or just when you drop it on the front? i get this sound too but its not my chassis hitting the ground cause it does it on carpet too. i think it might be the dog bones/universals but im not sure.

is the MT2 capable of a wheelie with a good engine and gearing? there is a guy on ebay selling a a MT2 with a CVR18 saying the head is scratched because it had so much power it did a back flip

Josh I doubt its capable of pulling wheelies just with pure power because of the way that the weight is distributed. You could wheelie if you hit a bump while on power that made the front pop up, but thats about it. I dont see it possible that any NMT or NMT2 can do what he claims it did. He probably dropped it, scratched the head, and figured hed try to pass it off as having "so much power."

My NMT will wheelie with a CVR18 and 15/47 gearing, it will only do it on grass with Trac Ta Gator tires, and it has back flipped from a dead stand still! I should also add that I have my NMT set up with short wheel base(flipped the rear arms) not sure if you can do that with the NMT2.

Ive never ever EVER seen it happen or even heard of it happening. I had my .21 NMT with the stock 2 speed gearing (which was like 12/52) and on road tires that gripped very nicely. I could barely get the tires off the floor.

With the stock 18 and some grippy monster tires it will get a wheelie on small bumps if its in it's powerband. It usually gets on it back if you hold it.
Is the TZ supposed to be the all time greatest small block?

I saw a video quite a while back of an NMT with a big block doing wheelies, he was running some road tires and was on black top so it has been done by others. I was quite surprized that mine was doing them!
