NiCd or NiMh?

What does everyone prefer and why?

I have a couple EPIC 3000's that are NiMh and I personally dont think they offer the same punch that my Sanyo 2400 NiCd's do. In fact, I really prefer the NiCd's over NiMh's for many reasons, another being that I find they charge more easily and consistently. Anyone out there have any views on this?

youre right when you say the ni-cads have more punch. nicd is preferred for rc drags for that reason. in all practicality, i cant notice a significant difference between them, but i have always used nicd. this year im starting to use 3000 nimh for my drag car, and hopefully itll run the same. the way you charge the battery is whats makin me want em. i think its easier to just stick it on the charger without having to fully discharge (as in the nicds). plus, the nimh can be ran as many times as desired in one day. the nicds are recommended to be ran twice a day.

pretty sure im right on this...

my thoughts...

GP3300 cells should have more runtime and punch, however Nicads are still very good cells and last longer. The CP2400SCR version will last hundreds of cycles when cared for.

thanks,
Steve

Cool. I can't afford the GP cells just for bashing, but I imagine that I'll get some when I get the new XTM Electric ST thats coming out, I'll plan on racing that one. I LOVE the SCR cells I have, man they really are a quality pack, and I do care for them as best I can (discharge, no EQ, but working on it.) and I never overheat them at all, and I have been really impressed with them. the 3000's are nice too, esp. in my E-Maxx, they give a nice long, consistent run time. I was having trouble with one of them charging, false peaking, etc, (969 pro) but I bought a car battery and charger so I can run the charger off that instead of the crappy AC/DC P/S that came with it. Getting 3050-3100 Mah in both batts now. </Ramble>

lol

Battlepack... which is better.. your 2400scr's or your sc3300. I noticed the sc3300 nihms are a little cheaper but just wanting your opinion on which pack is the best.

Well, it depends....

BP3300 for longer runtime and faster runs.
CP2400's will last several hundred cycles, NICADS just last longer than NIMH.

It depends on what your wants are, most now run NIMH for that longer runtime.

thanks,
Steve
