Hi all. My first was a Royal Ripper 4X4. Shaft driven w/included brass bushings, pretty nice back when all you got was plastic bushings. I recently dusted it off and tried to fix it up, but the gears are binding. I'll get it right soon.

My first R/C was the Marui Ninja. This car was awesome till I burnt up the resistor and then traded it away for a Tamiya Frog. This was back in 1984. I still have the Frog, but wish I had the Ninja instead. If anyone out there comes across one, drop me a line and an asking price.
Thanks,
Jason

I remember the Royal Ripper. I wanted it bad. Ended up all my summer cash went to my trusty Marui Big Bear. Have had a XX-4, Yr-4M2pro, XXXKE, Mr4Tc SP, RC-10T but that Big Bear still sits on my pit table to remind me why I do this RC thang!

My first was an AYK buggy which was 1/12 scale. I got it from Circus Hobbies out of Las Vegas. I think it had a 360 motor, alum. chassis and oil filled shocks. It was cool......back then

original RC-10
The original pre-stealth transmission, gold chassis RC-10 with bearings. Got it new in 1988 and still use it today. It still has all the original parts too.

My first car was a Mercedes 190e, which was CLAP controlled! ie you clapped and it would go forwards or turn in reverse.
In terms of rc cars, I've owned:
Tamiya Lunchbox monster truck (Same as a Midnight Pumpkin).
Tamiya Toyota Hi Lux (Same as a King cab - possibly the first racing truck?)
Schumacher Cougar 2
And now a HPI super nitro impreza...

My first R/C car was a Tamiya Grasshopper that I got way back in the '80s. I used to pound the daylights out of it on jumps in my street, but that thing held up with no problems.

My first RC car....
I really had to think on this one and figured that my first "non toy" hobby rc car was a 1/10 Bolink Eliminator from the 80's. If I'm not suffering from halftimers yet (not old enough to suffer from oldtimers), I remember the kit came with a cool bumper sticker then that said "He who dies with the most toys wins!" which I still got stuck on an old tool box somewhere in my garage.
I first started out RC with planes, and when it was too windy to fly and had nothing else to do, I got started with RC cars also.

first cars
HighX - After I got the Ripper I was actually deciding between the Marui Big Bear and the Tamiya Blackfoot, but ended up with the Royal Crusher because I already had the Ripper. I actually still bash with the Crusher. Had to swap some parts from the Ripper to get it running, so all the Ripper is good for is spare parts. But they were great beginner cars. Now I race a AET3!
