Breaking In A Super G from the pros perspective

Hey,
I just bought a Super G fully rigged up 'out of the box' with radio and want to know the REAL way to break it all in. . . . not the manual's version. . . . just "another opinion" from you guys out there. Haven't received it yet....rather anxious I might say.

thanks. a beginner here

Hi Guy & welcome to the wonderful world of Super G' owners.

Opinions about break-in will vary but you really can't go wrong. Just take it easy the first 2 - 3 full tanks. Thats it in a nut shell.

or to get more in depth....

I like to run mine with regular oil at 6-8 oz per gal for those first 2-3 tanks. Not synthetic. Word has it that synthetic takes longer to break & let the engine seat. So I use the advice & its worked fine.

Next, run the engine for 15 minutes through various throttle settings, (not too much wide open) & let it completely cool down. Not just to touch, but to ambient temp. Eat a sandwich, run an errand or something but it needs to completely cool down inside. Run agian for a few minutes and cool. I do that for the first tank. The second tank, is more of the same but not as long for cool down AND more time spent at full throttle. Maybe a straight-away every other lap.

After the third tank, switch to pure syn & run at 6-8 oz per gal. You should be good to go.

If you can run a full tank (about 30 - 40 minutes run time) without getting bored and shutting down, then you are more of an r/c nut than I am

Also, on a side note, remove the idle adjustment screw on the carb. This way you can fully control the engine & shut it down with the throttle trim.

The words you see are those expressed by my opinion and not to be taken as anything other than that. There are better ways to do things and this is my combination of those.

Smile Breaking In A Super G From A Pro

Thanks a lot for the help. I noticed in some other posts that there's the "manual" (WHH) way of breaking in, and the experienced way of breaking in.....running 6-8 to a gallon as opposed to 3 to a gallon. Since this is truly my first foray into the hobby (in any capacity) I wanted to get a head's up from someone like you. Thanks again for your time.

Yeah, I've got the same manual. Stick with the 6-8 oz & you'll be fine. The boat is truely a ball to run. Show us some pics when you get the chance.
