my new chopper and rubber coating
i just suckered all of you into thinking this was gonna be something cool, but sorry, it isnt.
so i have two topics of discussion here.
1: does anybody know where i can get that stuff that you dip items into and they come out with a rubber coating? its for like ratchet handles and pliers and such. and i mean someplace thats a chain, not your local "bubbas tool shed" or somewhere online. i need this stuff in a bad way.
secondly, while on another mission to find said coating, i was dissapointed to find that this particular place didnt have it. on my way out i saw a kid checking out some toyish stuff in "impulse alley" and i saw a 1/12th scale custom chopper die cast thing. looked like garbage but i figuered i could work with it and it was only $6, so i figured what the hell.
mind you, I AM NOT a concourse kind of guy, and i used to drink very heavily and so i dont have much of a steady hand these days. so please keep the bashing to a minimum...
before(i forgot to take a "before" pic, so heres the box lol):

very orange/copper colored, some nice little pink and purple stripes blah, note orange stanchions and clamps on the forks
and after about 3 hours of painting, assembly/dissassembly included:

semi-ratrodded matte black and bright red, just noticed it needs a few more brush strokes on the fork stanchions. looks good from 5 feet. will be ok on my buddies mantle. hes a chopper kind of guy, i am not

Yeah, you should be able to find plasti-dip pretty much at any hardware store. Its just a latex dip type thing, not sure if I wanna know what you're using it for.

lol i just always liked rat rods and low budget "form follows function" paint jobs. theres something very menacing about flat black in my eyes.
and for those who are curious of my use for the rubber coating stuff, i bought a steeda tri-ax/f short throw shifter for my car last fall. i also scored a free billet knob, before steeda decided to put the rubber grip on it. i never thought to keep my old knob and when the temperature drops, that thing stays cold for hours. sometimes when overnight temps drop to single digits or lower its so cold that it burns to touch it. so i figured i could remedy the problem with some of that rubber stuff, which would kinda insulate it and also help with the slipping when quick shifting to 2nd or 4th. i would just buy a junkyard knob and be done with it, but focus takes a specific knob because of reverse lockout, and i realllllly like the hefty weight of the billet piece.
so yeah, thanks for the info

i would imagine that america has the most slang terms for ones manhood, including knob, but out of curiosity... what do you call the piece you use to shift your car with?

If we had to stop using words for their original purpose when they became slang for something else, the english language would go kinda like this: Hi.
I'd call it a knob.... because that's what it is called...
And I must agree, america probably has the most slang terms for pretty much everything.
