Help w/ Pinion
I have the F103GT Advan Courage. Very tricky car to run in the street. I do have one question, pinions. Right now I'm running stock gearing (14/73 0.6 module) I think it's 73 spur, anyway. Why can't I get a larger pinion in there, say a 17 tooth? Do I need to purchase a aftermarket motor mount?
Thanks

any of you guys with the F103GT have any experience with mounting an F1 car body to the chassis? I have read some stuff online, my question is how do you mount the front wing of the f1 car to the F103 chassis?? Would it just go on perfectly or what? I REAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLY want to get an f1 car, f201 chassis is hard to find.
Found this site http://www.rcf1.com/00_ylabrecque/ylabrecque.htm so it looks easy enough, but i'm worried about that front wing.
Problem with F201 is I can't find one, except ONE on ebay I will bid on. BUT older tamiya F1 and Indy cars did use the f102/103 chassis.............

Futaba MC230cr or MC330cr esc's are good and decently priced. Also fairly small footprint.

well i am not getting an f201, decided on this chassis instead. I love LMP Lemans cars, so its natural to get the Courage kit, and I will also fit an f1 body or two onto it. Should be fun

I am thinking of getting one. Which Tamiya bodies fit the best?

All tamiya 190 mm touring car bodies should fit.
BTW, can you lock the diff of the F103gt? Or just even tighten it more? Coz i've tighten it all the way down and it's still too loose for me.

Absolutly not !
You'll have to grind the upper deck, the GTB is much too wide....

Rear Axel Question
On the F103GT, how does the rear axel setup work? Is there a smaller rotating shaft inside the visible metal axel or does that visible axel itself rotate? If it does, what does it sit on to reduce friction? Thanks.

Watcha mean?
I believe its direct drive, so the spur sits on the axle.
edit: yup direct drive. Axle sits in a pod with the spur on it. Motor spins pinion, pinion spins spur, and in turn axle spins. Axle spins.

Drifting
Has anyone ever tried drifting tires on their F103GT? Is it fun/worthwhile to drive with those tires or just impossible?

I did eventually get an F201, but with the shrinking supply of parts, if i actually want to drive a car around, I may get an F103 and mount my f1 bodies to it.

I drove my GT around the track yesterday. It was a very tough car to drive. I used the stock springs upfront and I believe that you should use a much much harder spring.
One thing you CANT do is to use the same tires for the front and rear. For sure, you need much grippier tires at the back, but you have to find the perfect balance.

I decided to take my F103GT out on a tennis court a couple days ago for a run. I have foam tires and it was more controllable on that surface than any other I've tried. I've got wider tires on the back and I also have the full 3racing aluminum motor cage. I'm just using the standard silvercan motor but it's still pretty fast. With a venom 3000 battery it'll run forever.

I just got a couple of Orion LiPo batteries. Tried to put it in the GT but unfortunately they were just a few millimeters too long. How do we make those batteries fit?

The Lipos are a little to long eh? Maybe you could use a dremel or something to grind the plastic battery retainers down so your battery will fit. You could buy a spare set of battery retainers for a few bucks from rcmart.com and use those for your regular sized batteries.

F103GT Spur Gear
Does anyone know if any companies besides Tamiya make a spur gear that will work on an F103GT? Is this particular spur gear just a weird size that only Tamiya uses? It's got an 11 mm bearing in the middle that rides on the rear axle. If anyone has an info on this matter I'd appreciate some feedback. Thanks.

I ordered mine yesterday and I got a e-mail saying that it was on back order
My goal is going to be top speed so I am going to use the mamba max 7700kv motor with a 6 cell. So my question is what gearing should I use.
