damn i had no idea the LSP had such a high store price intially.... i thought the high prices were actually due simply to people over charging due to how hard it was to get them!
|
thats exactly what it was...just like any other kit...
im sure after a year, this truggy will go down as well..and then a newer faster/better version (in theory of course) will come out....so you will spend another 650 dollars on some other kit in another year or so...lol
im wondering if anybody has raced/used the same buggy/truggy/car for more than 2 years? or how about 3 years? sorry for going off topic...but this caught my attention..lol

honestly no.. my LSP was a few $ over cost.. i have good relationship with a few LHS so get hooked up.. the price came down when demand got high on it.. its like when th eoriginal savage21 came out with a 550 tag.. it came down after 6 months too.. the hellfire will come down in price.. give it time..
r&d is already planned on.. i also plan to do 1 qualifier at CRCRC this weekend with it.. ill be using a engine i already have broken in, so will not know the stock engines capabilities anytime soon.. just no time for me to break it in and get a gal of fuel thru it before the event..
i will still be a HB user.. its over a year old, its top notch, its better then any on the market LSP i know of or have seen as i have at min 1/4" more turn in then any other ive fondled in person.. so i get the same if not more off power steering then a jammin.. and on power is better too..
my HB buggy will be on its 3rd season my savvy will also be on its 4th season..

In regards to how long do people keep their RC's: Well my T-maxx is in it's 6th year and Supermaxx in it's 2nd year, HPI Nitro RS4 is 6th year. Sometimes I'll buy newer stuff but if it doesn't match up to the old I sell it. But I like to keep my old reliables.

I saw the guys testing the truck before it was out @ revelation raceway and I gotta say, it looked pretty damn good to me. I was pitting next to the guys. They were all very nice and even helped me a little. Main thing is, it looked wicked sick, and on top of it took quite a bit of abuse and kept on truggying:-)

If you have a Savage already HPI has a LCG kit for it, that I also have on order. It has black anodized TVPs and rollbar along with a slick motor mount. The only other thing you would miss would be the larger radio box. I have a 4.6 and the X only comes with a 4.1. I talked to my LHS yesterday and he said my Hellfire should be in around 1PM today can't wait!

yea no kiddin...well, the LHS in my area has been great in the price department, most cant afford those prices cause they have an extreme overhead. but, if i find something cheaper than what tower got...im there, cause i know tower has a decent price tag on everything.
also, at times (like with my newer kit i just brought LSP R) i will spend the extra 30 dollars, especially if they will set it up and provide tech help whenever a problem exsist..i think 30 extra dollars isnt much, especially if you can get what you want on that day and you are able to have somebody show you in person on whats wrong/right or how to's..
with tower, if you try and request a bundle deal..they say no..with some LHS, if you say, ( i will buy this right now if you give me this and that for so much) its usually sold. some food for thought.

I use THS racing as my LHS and they are great. They give me better pricing than tower probably because i'm a steady customer. If anyone wants good pricing just go to one place, if they treat you good, and stick with them. Don't go and buy a kit somewhere else and expect your LHS to give you good pricing on parts cause he knows you didn't get it from him.

Problem is, even with an extra 30 dollars on tower's kit prices it is still barely worth it. Pretty soon I dont think there will be any hobby shops to show the newbies the how to's, the only local tracks here are private ones. It also hurts the industry / HPI because at 449 its not worth it to stock one. The LST with Horizon is the only monster truck with any kind of practical price control.

About the compatibality issues with the new Savage X to the old 1
Compatibility!
Careful attention has been paid to maintain the tradition of Savage aftermarket support. Most of the new Savage X features are compatible with the long list of Savage aftermarket parts already available, and older Savage trucks can be upgraded to most of the exciting new parts found on the Savage X.
Savage X parts that will fit on past Savage trucks:
Transmission Case (easier to remove)
Differential Housings* (front and rear)(easier to remove)
Shock Towers (additional shock locations)
Suspension Arms (lighter)
Radio Box (easier access)
Slipper Clutch (dual pads plus rubber dampening)
Savage X Chassis Plates* (lowered CG)
F4.1 Engine
* May require a few extra parts for conversion
Parts carried over from past Savage trucks:
Internal Differentials
Internal Transmission
Dogbones
Driveshafts
Brake
Axles
Exhaust
Uprights
C Hubs
Body Posts
Body Position
Engine Mount & Plate
Servo Saver
Shocks and Springs
Savage X parts that will NOT fit on past Savage trucks:
Alloy Roll Hoop
Spur Gears (hardened steel gears will fit with new inner hub)
Polycarbonate Receiver Cover

I seriously doubt they will but the LHS out business with their prices. Where I live there are 6 different Hobby Shops. They all carry the HPI, Traxxas, Losi & Associated parts and vehicles. But they each carry parts that the other ones don't have. Plus I only buy from Tower when I can't find it locally or on ebay.
Make sure you guys post some pics and your comments when you get your Hellfires. I can't wait to get mine but I need to sell some vehicles.

Folks have been wandering here and there has been talk about other HPI products. I love people that make comments like you. Leave it alone and enjoy the conversation. Other than that - TOO BAD!

Got it! Can't wait to break it in this weekend, just hope the weather remains warm in the NY area. I'll let everyone know how it is once I get to play with it. All the outdoor tracks are closed for the season so I won't get to race it till the spring. By that time I should have it set up to race. I'm definetly changing the radio, servos, tires and painting my own body . Hope everybody who wants theirs get it soon!
