Definately look for something with fewer bends and 90 degree corners than the "log" header that is on the truck stock. As quickly as you can it needs to be able to expand and flow freely to a pipe where the volume complements the exhaust flow and helps develop better power. Yes, it will be louder but not severly louder and at the same time you will see improvements in power.

I would spend some money on a pipe. The plastic ones have been known to melt and choke out the motor. See if your shop has a used one for $5-$10 and try it out. It might be enough that you would be happy with the results. Make sure that when you buy one that it will work for your current engine as well as a future upgrade one as well.

I have two of the first one.. They work just fine They're all metal, and the pipe is a dual chamber.
