It depends on the model, 2/3A are popular.
AAA, AA, sub C, A, N, ect.

It does depend on the model. I know for my Mugen MTX3 I run a 5 AAA size hump configuration, for my NTC3 I used a 5 2/3A size flat configuration, for my buggy I use a 5 cell AA hump config, etc

AA & AAA popular with RTR models. 5 cell 2/3A humpbacks packs are more popular, rechargeable in 1hr or less, depending on your charger. 2/3A pack goes dead slowly, not like alkaline do, they give you warning that they're goin' dead.

most 5 cell hump packs are 2/3A. visit your local battery dealer and they can help you. i bought a hump pack from my lhs and had one made at the battery store. cost is about the same, but the battery store usually has high Mah batteries than in a standard hump.

FOR NITRO OR ELETRIC?
Most nitros are 2/3A 1000 ~ 1500mAh
While in 1/12 scale I have seen packs as small as 1/3AAA batteries, all 5 cells would fit on silver dollar and weigh about the same.
