i am pretty sure that a123 cells are air tight you could use them.

thanks for all the replies. i am surprised though, that no one really knows what battery is waterproof. has no one ever try to run through a puddle with the car completely under water? everyone talks about the new e-maxx and it being waterproof. are you planning on dragging it behind your BMX bike through water? i seriously doubt that. so you must use some batteries...

For the record, I have driven an old Tamiya Grasshopper 2 underwater with no precautions with a NiCd battery pack to no ill effect. I only did it once, though, and I wouldn't do it with any expensive battery pack in an expensive truck without lots of precautions.
