The Dirt Nitro Challenge

We're at The Dirt Nitro Challenge, which is being held at the Nitro Pit in Wittman, Arizona. The track layout is sick. Joey Christensen has done it again! Truggy qualifying has concluded, but buggy qualifying was rained out. Buggy qualifying will conclude tomorrow with the Truggy main events. Stayed tuned, as contributing editor John Cary and I will post more photos and info.

Here is a panoramic shot of the track. The big step-up in the middle of the track throws cars straight up in the air.

Ryan Cavalieri made both shows. His RC8 looked good in qualifying.

Ryan Lutz qualified third in both Pro Buggy and Pro Truggy. Believe the hype!

The Pro Truggy B-main was intense...you could say it got a little friendly in the corners.

Arizona has some of the best sunsets.

The Drake TQed both classes.

The Dirt Girls are a major part of the Nitro Challenge. They're not just pretty ladies either, these girls are out working in the dirt the entire race.

Matt Gosch and Mike Moralez were flying high over the track's toughest double.

Team Associated's Ryan Cavalieri ran a smart race and won Pro Truggy. Ryan won using a Kyosho STR-R. Early in the race Kyosho's Ryan Lutz grabbed the lead and checked out. Unfortunately he blew out the ring and pinion gear in his rear diff. Late in the race, The Drake and Jammin's Taylor James had an epic, aggressive battle for second. The two drivers bumped and rubbed several times the closing minutes of the race. In the end, The Drake took second after the two drivers collided in front of the drivers stand, which left James upside down in turn one.

Along with Jason I decided to take a week off of school and road trip it down to Arizona for one of the biggest races in 2008. The road trip in its self was tons of fun.
