Oh i forgot to mention, i am interested in bl and lipo legends also. Let me know what you guys decide on for motors and batts. I have 4000 single cells in stock. However, you may want a different battery.

Make it spec....Novak 17.5 or 21.5, Novak Havoc Speedo, SMC 4000 25C battery. This will make it a little higher initial cost, as most will need to buy into the brushless/lipo deal, but it shouldn't be to bad. For anyone that ran the class last year your 4 or 5 4 cell packs are now dead, and about to explode, so will need to buy new ones anyway.
I am thinking you should be able to get into Brushless/lipo for around $200 bucks. (4 new 4 cell packs are around that price, plus all the motors and brushes and tuning tools). You will need a charger that is capable to charge 1C packs. I will look for a cheap one and post.

You may be right, but preception is everything. Look at all of the Tekins that are run there now. Jesse smoked everyone with it, so they had to have one. It is great for Jesse's sponsor, and Glenn, but an LRP, or Novak can be just as fast.

wow, alot of response to the bl legends deal. i'm just glad not getting flamed over it. lol!!
i do think the havok and novak only deal would be better, due to the perception and lack of adjustments, just like jdub said. i looked at different systems and this seemed to fit best in the spirit of legend/spec type rules. now we just need to find a cheap 1c pack that can be spec'd. also i would say no 13mm rotors either.
im "all in" on this i probably wont race every weekend, but prob 2-3 wks a month, so count me in!

So the only thing that we need to worry about is the gearing. IMO you will need to get to around a 4.0 rollout to get the 17.5 1C to work. Currently you guys run a 2.11 or 2.21 with new tires.
With 48 pitch you are limited, but 64 pitch is tough for new guys to get right. I am doing some research on the 48 pitch options.

Ok so you guys pretty committed to making legends 1s lipo 25c 4000mah, using novak 17.5 with havok speedo's? No weight limit? Don't they have spec foams for those? Wish they had polls on this forum. About to get some work done on the site so it would be nice to take care of this at the same time.

i was thinking cheap too. But from what i've been hearing, there "may have" been some funny business going on with motors and stuff. this would take that out of play. But nobody says you cant run old rules, you will just have to have enough to make class up. cheap is good.

Cheap is good, and teching motors would cut down on the "funny business".

4 cell 4600's will not be cheap, and you really can't get them as easy as lipos any more.
17.5 1C will be WAY slower than a 21 turn with 4 round cells (that was your rule last year).
I think you guys should run the World GT Spec tires. Just like the 17.5 1C truck class. This again will allow you guys to just buy a pan car chassis and move out of legends to pan cars.
I have found a good charger that is AC/DC for around 50 bucks! I also have a guy working on something for me. He said he may have some info tomorrow.
Lipo/brushless may be a little expensive at first, but you will be WAY under budget by the middle of the year.

cheap??price 4- 4cell ni-mh packs..good ones not so cheep, then changing brushes, breaking in motors, zap'n motors and tech'n motors?..i saw a few last year that had the SPEC stamped on them but were far from it 4 -4cell packs will buy you a havoc system and 1s is about the same price as a good 4cell pack so i cant see were it is going to be much more?pluss the piece of mind that the other guys have the same stuff..just my 2 cents ..i'm in for 21.5 or17.5 1s,i allready have an old GTB i bought over a year ago from brian.s,and working on 2 used thunder power 5000 1s at the moment the only thing is some people allready have thunderpower 1s .there aint that much out there as far as 1s lipo's wright now so if we are going to buy ,go ahead and get the latest stuff.how much difference is 1s 4000 28c vrs 5000 40c???. i vote for TP 5000 .i'm in lets get it going!!!
i'm sure glenn will stock whatever we decide to use,i'll prolly start with 3 batts ,love to have one for each heat and main but 2 will do untill we see how it goes..good news is you can do it with just one 1s all day like the e trucks and it can stay wright in the car all day.

You are looking at a lap diff between the 2 packs. You only need one, and the TP packs are way overkill for Legends.

I agree with all of you guys on costs... I would love to race a legends car but never wanted to go backwards on the whole brushed round cell racing again.
I agree with Joel, SMC 25C lipo pack, 17.5, world GT tires. I'd like to keep the speed control open just to help keep those who already have an ESC that could work from having to buy a new one. Like an XBR or some sort of sport brand that is intended to keep the cost down.
I don't know that I would run legends every week due to the fact that I will be running 13.5 and possibly 17.5 or 10.5 but I've always wanted to get out there and bang fenders with you guys.

you guys are welcome to run a class by the old rules also, imsure there will be a few others.
i really dont care either way on the tire deal. ive got alot of old foams i was going to use, but wont be mad either way. i vote for the cheaper batteries, whichever they are.
one other thing, are we going to need a booster or receiver pack w/ the 1c? or is the amp draw low enough on the 17.5 to get by w/o it?
