The last two key features are pure comedy! I have always wanted to "drive out loud" as opposed to driving to myself.

-I think the body needs the tailgate area cut out, or else, it'd be like a funnycar trying to make a run w/the chutes open. The truck would probly be OK for beginners, then if they lose interest & end up in the closet, (link many kids do w their r/c's), the parents aren't out too much money.

Geez, can they come up with something remotely attractive? These guys never seen the DTX Evader ST before? So yes, you can have a cool looking product with a cheap price. Don't understand why you guys couldn't do it.

Dear Horizon Hobby,

Stop it. Stop it right now.

I'm freaking serious. Do you really feel that you've just now pulled the Losi line so tight that you have to make ANOTHER ENTIRE BRAND to compete with yourselves? Really?

I don't understand. I really don't. Where are you planning to go with this?

2 years ago I told someone you had 5 years left before it was all over... At this pace, you're going to prove me right.

Sincerely,
-Eric

Is anyone still even buying stadium trucks anyway?

It's weird that a truck of this "quality" would be shown here.
Is RCCA going to start advertising all the new models that Radio Shack comes out with too?

Keep in mind that this product is not aimed at you. It is designed to bring new people into the hobby.by bridging the gap between toy grade and hobby grade. Do you know how many million RC toy trucks are sold that aren't that much cheaper than hobby grade stuff. This truck and line up might not be for you, but it should be great for the hobby.

I don't know how you can judge the quality without actually seeing the vehicle. RC Car Action doesn't advertise any vehicles. We report the news here and I don't see why we would want to ignore this news. To answer the RadioShack question. Yes, we would and have. Remember the XMODS?

Guys, just keep it in perspective.

I agree with this statement. I just question why they would release a 'stadium truck' at this point. I am willing to bet short course truck out sell stadium trucks, and short course trucks have been very good about bringing new people into this hobby.

I think there are some different opinions on that.

I believe the hobby is better off being bigger than it is being a cottage industry. Not everyone shares my opinion and many people who know this hobby and related industry are torn. For example, an industry insider once said: "The worst thing about this hobby is that it's not in Walmart ... and the best thing about this hobby is that it's not in Walmart."

Now back to this truck. I have one sitting next to me and I can tell you that if you gave this vehicle to ten RC newcomers, they would all like it. Best of all the truck is real hobby-grade RC.

Taking into account that this is aimed at newcomers who know nothing about the hobby, I would rather see a better looking body. I would think a newcomer is gonna base their choice on price first, and looks would be a close second.

Even I, as a seasoned hobby nerd, have based my "first choice" on looks. The main reason I bought the original Losi 8ight was because it looked better than the other fatty buggies that were out at the time.

Looks to me like a combo of associated T4 (rear mounted front shocks) and losi/MRC/kyosho (bulkhead and front brace) with possible associated T3 rear , but can't see much. Kind of looks like the sportworks electric, they had a couple years ago. I agree with most and say, Stick to the established brands, especially if you have a hobby shop nearby. However if the price is right, it might last long enough to let the addiction set it

Alright, I agree with the fact that the hobby could definitely use some more people who are active in it right now. I know for certain that the guy who owns the hobby shop I go to would agree with that, especially over the past couple years.

I just hope that parts support is fantastic for this truck if it is aimed at newbies. If not then it could do more damage than good to the hobby by turning off people who chose this rather than an established brand.

I thought the Sportworks line was for the entry-level crowd? Specifically, the Raven (I believe was it's name) stadium truck. This doesn't make sense.

Matt

Sportwerks failed.

They forgot about Sportwerks entirely.

They said "hey, what if we had another brand of r/c cars???" and everyone said "wow what a great idea!!!" so they came up with this.

It's like that episode of Stargate SG-1 where they were stuck doing the same thing over and over and over and over again but nobody involved realized it except one outsider.

I know its only June, but you get the "RCCA Most Ignorant Statement Of The Year Award"

No, lets not want our hobby to grow and bring more people in to it how ever possible. With our blazing and thriving economy RC companies are sure to be as successful as they can be with out any help from any car/truck that is comparably cheaper, with far more adjustments, and more fun to drive than most any New Bright toy sold at Walmart.

Guys, don’t knock the entry level offerings.

Back in 1992, I was at a small local mall and saw dad showing his 5-6yr old son how to drive an RC truck. I went over spoke with him, he'd got it from Toys R Us. That weekend I got one. I drove it for maybe 1hr, when a friend told me about Tower Hobbies, and loaned me a catalog. I returned that truck and about a week later owned a Traxxas Hawk. I was hooked in this never ending money pit, and I love it!

Now 18 years later, having bought and sold many cars and trucks, I’m still actively racing 1/10 scale on-road electric (although not as much as I would like to).

My point is that it was an entry level truck that got me started, and this truck could do the same for many others.

Peace.

hell yeah! iv won that one the last 6 years.
im also nominated for: "hater of the year", "elitist jerk of the year" and "drunk post of the year"

the hobby is fine. its growing just fine. it always has been. we don't need to cater to the noobs. we need to go back to the DIY mentality we had 20 years ago. step up, or step aside. tough love
