PC Case Fans

How do I rig a case fan to work in a slash, as far as connecting, and how does it impact battery life, or should they have there own power-source?

I have this 80mm fan that pushes over 80CFM and I have a 40mm fan that pushes 25CFM.

I bet you could run it straight into your 3s lipo.

I've never tried it but I assume they're normally run off the 12v rail on a pc power supply. The peak voltage on a 3s lipo is 12.6 volts, so it should work just fine.

Just be sure to unplug the fan when you're done or you'll have a ruined battery.

You know what, ill run its own power setup. I'll use a small 3s lipo battery just to power both fans.

---
How would the wiring scheme look, if I were to hook it up to the main battery?

No real clue honnestly.

Lol, hook them to yuor motor wires, more speed = more heat = more power to the fans :P

Are you trying to turn it into a hover craft?
If it gets so hot you need a pc fan you might just be over geared.

If your gearing is right, you don't need a fan anyway.

If you really want one, keep it simple.

I'd just wire + to battery + and - to battery -.

I go overboard when getting my stuff set up. Cooling goes all over the place. You guys should see my prize desktop computer.

I want to keep my motor as cool as possible and if it means putting a fan on it then thats COOL* lol

To optimaze the cooling effect you should make an air duct from the fan and wrap it around the motor with as much exit room as posisible.
If the cross section of free flowing air at the motor is about 50% of the the fan area that should up the air speed by 30-40% giving more cooling effect.
Known as the venturi effect.

Where you get power depends on the fan. If its 12v, go straight from battery. If its a 6v fan, get power from the fan port on the velineon, or any open receiver channel.
