Hello all !

So , I ' m rather new to the R / C scene after being out of it for a while .

I ' m partial towards a nitro powered car kit ... I used to dabble in electrics a long time ago , and since then , I stopped dabbling in R / C altogether . But , now I ' m back and I ' m trying to decide between a HPI Super Nitro RS4 or the Kyosho SuperTen . I am also partial to the slightly larger proportions and slightly larger engines of the " Supers " which is why I prefer them to regular 1 / 10 scale kits . I ' m not looking to race just yet .. I wanna get my feet wet first before I dive in over my head ... so speed isn ' t too important right at this point .

What can y ' all tell me about these 2 cars ? Is one better than the other ? Is one more upgradeable than the other ? Are parts readily available for either one ?

If anyone can provide any pros or cons for both of these cars , I would greatly appreciate it . Or , if you know of another cool kit that is worth considering instead of either of these , then I wouldn ' t mind hearing about it also .

Here are my opinions :

hpi super nitro Pros : Good performance out of the box

Cons : barely any hop ups


Kyosho super ten Pros : Rally potential , huge hop up list

Cons : Not as good as the hpi otta the box

Our head - to - head testing of all the super nitro cars showed the SuperTen to be the best performer out of the box . There ' s a new version of the SuperTen called the FW - 04 that ' s even better than the original car . The HPI is certainly a good choice , but out - of - the - box race track performance certainly favors Kyosho .

I ' m still in the process of trying to decide , but I ' m leaning towards the HPI right at the moment .

whoops sorry , I dont have those cars but my friend does have the hpi and he said the hpi is better than the kyosho .
