The Paris-Dakar Rally is on, and while the top guys are using a new Evolution of the recent winning Pajeros, many drivers are still using the version Tamiya sells.
If you saw the outline of the spare tire on the back and wondered why Tamiya didn't at least included a molded-plastic one, I found out why today. Turns out the real Paris-Dakar trucks have it molded in for whatever reason, probably on the street version, but they carry the spare inside, where they keep the CG centered.

is anyone interested in these parts?
I am planning on making some parts for the tamiya cross country chassis such as aluminum skid plates, stainless steel bellcranks with sleeve, aluminum bull gaurd, etc..
is anyone interested in these parts? I am also open to any suggestions that you may have regarding parts you would like to see made for this car.

Hey, could one of yall do something? I'd really appreciate it if one of yall could measure the diameter of the tire, and tell me if the rims uses a 12 mm hub.
Thanks a bunch.

the wheels are standard size sedan wheels, so you can use virtually any tire or wheel for the pajero

Yes, the Pajero uses 12mm hex wheels, and they are the same size as the other TC wheels. I am looking for some more scale-accurate wheels for my Pajero, at least in Dakar form.
The tires are about 3.5" in diameter, pretty tall. I have a set of Pro-Line buggy Dirt Hawgs on some HPI SNR wheels, and they are only slightly larger.

Tamiya aslo put a jeep wrangler on that chassis. It was a plastic shell and looked quite gd. I managed to break that chassis. The bottom plate that holds the inboard ends of the front arms broke in half so the front of the chassis hit the deck and i cant run it till i get a new one. Apart from that try to move the c of g lower cos they do tend to flip at high speeds.

What other bodies are available for the Pajero Chassis
I like the 4-link setup, but I don't really care for the Pajero itself....

Right now there is nothing else available for the Pajero. There were several other versions with different bodies: Honda CRV, street Pajero (Older version), Jeep Wrangler, and the Isuzu Mu and Amigo (On-road and off-road respectively, same body though). All those were molded styrene plastic, and go for a lot of money on ebay now.
You can fit almost any body you want to the truck: Just stretch wheelbase a little by using longer suspension links.

Hello people,
I just bought a new RTR Pajero and just wanted to say hey! And I wanted to do some mods like locking the front and rear diffs. From my searching I have heard that I need to install a piece into the rear diff. Can anyone help me out with what piece I need and where it goes? I'm a newbie that wants to climb some rocks!!!
Thanks everyone

Doomed-
The piece you install will lock the front and rear diffs, but it only comes in the XC (Cross Country) chassis diff gear bags. Otherwise you can lock the diffs with JB Welb or Epoxy. It's not as temporary as the mechanical locker, but it works, and those diff gears are the same as other Tamiya diffs so getting replacement gears won't cost much.
maX energ-
I don't remember where they get the plastic Unimog bodies, but I think they are from toys in Europe or Japan. Yokomo and Carson make some of those semi truck racing bodies, Yoke's being most readily available now, and they look quite good on the chassis.
I forget the bearings it takes, but just take the truck apart and count the number and measure them. I know it needs two 6x12mm, two 10x15mm, about eleven 5x11mm bearings, and some smaller 5x8mm bearings.

I'd be interested in whatever hop ups are made for my XB Pajero.

That would be a big fat ZERO. You're on your own for hop-ups and mods.

My post was directed in response to his post.
I also know some other sources for some hop ups for the Pajero (XC chassis) such as full skids and link rear suspensions. Do your homework before you make such a blanket statement........

SteveK- Thanks for the info, I didn't know it took so many bearings! I read somewhere it took like 8. I guess I will have to go backyard machanic on it to find them all. And start glueing the diff together!!! As long as I can buy new one I'll try anything!
old phart-

I would be interrested in these kind of parts too if you find anything.
I'm glad to see this forum is not dead!!!

Old Phart-
It wasn't a rash blanket statement: There are virtually no specific hop-ups available for the XC-chassis on any kind a decent scale. If you can find me some links, go right ahead. Guys saying they will start making parts and parts actually being made are totally different: It happens all the time on message boards.
Doomed-
Yeah, it is a lot, but it's not that expensive. Duratrax carries all of them. The rear axle alone uses five 5x11mm bearings, each front wheel/axle uses one 6x12mm and one 10x15mm.

Thanks again for the info Stevek, I will check out Duratrax's page. I think it's more the number of bearing that freaked me not so much the expense. Back to ripping the poor Paj apart.

Just so you fellas have an idea of what one of these trucks can do when there pushed to the edge I've attached a pic of one of my outings-In terms of hop ups tamiya did realese the front one way tourqe splitter unit spasificaly for the pajero and you can use a black foot body with almost no mods (A clod or jugg body will have to be shortened).Pajeros are like any other car if you look there are pleanty of options. The one in the pic is my XB that is running traxxas long shocks on all corners, ofna pirate 10 rims proline dirt paw tires(dirt hog now ) a magnetic mayhem motor full bearings a XL-1 speed control a modded motor mount to alow a 14 tooth pinion and a body lift........
