Sinclair, the stock 2-speed is crap. It will break when you tune your engine for max power. At least, it broke easily w/ a Novarossi Race .12
I even broke the FZW56 (the finger of it) with OS RX 15 after couple of gallons. Good Luck!

I had never any problems with the brakes, brakes are great in fact. Are you sure your servo is strobng enough? I always used the stock steel brakes with pads on calipers.

The diffs will last if you fill in them with thick silicone oil and seal them with silicone sealant. If you don't seal including the screw holes the silicone oil will pour out. But when you do that that difference is huge! And diffs will last. Use thicker oil in front and less thick at rear.

And oh yeah, the car looks nice!

ok, I just started in nitro cars and I was impressed by the 35mph it packed compared to the hopeless electric ones I have seen, but then again mine was fairly cheap next to everything else.

I still have to try it out on a track though, only revved it up and down a dead end road and making the neighbours angry lol.

oh yeah - my car also has a porsche chassis but it looks nowhere near as nice as that (it's like a rally car with ads all over)

Glad you guys like the body. It's a HPI super nitro body and fits perfectly. The only modifications I had to do were to reinforce the wing mounts and relocate the body mounts. Take an old sock or something similar and drench it with epoxy, works just as good as fibre glass.

Well Mika, we both know the FZW56 is more durable than the stock 2-speed. But I've had no problems so far and as I wrote earlier I've run 6,5 litres and I’ve been driving hard.

I disassembled the 2-speed today since I changed the two spur gears and pinion gears, going for more top speed. I’ve surely got enough HP with the TZ. I found one small problem though; the cam is a bit worn out where the small pin goes thru the transmission shaft, a glitch but nothing more.

I’m curious, how come I’ve had such success with the stock 2-speed? It has a plastic bell indeed but where the cam lever engages there is a small metal pin (like the one I described above) and it’s still holding. And believe me, I know how to tune an engine. When I get the chance I’ll take some photos of the old 2-speed.

About the differentials. I’m currently using super adhesive grease (not the cheap hobby grease included) with the bevel gears and as I wrote earlier there is now wear to talk about. As long as you pack it almost full of grease it’s just as good as silicon oil.

I get the feeling people just don’t know how to align the pinion gears with the spur gears. I also regular clean all the parts.. And by cleaning I mean taking it apart and lubricating every part that needs to be lubricated.

From what I’ve read I assume you are pretty experienced Mika, so I’m not insinuating that you don’t know what you are doing.

Sinclair, I'm glad your 2-speed is still holding on. Maybe I just was unlucky. But it was one take off that was too much for it, the finger went through the plastic.
After doing my diffs (filling silicone oil and sealing them sealant) I never had to take them apart. I did couple of times though, but both times I realized it was really unncessary. And with those the car was running great. Don't have the car (two of them in fact) anymore. Afterwards I tried HPI Super which was also very nice. Since then I have moved to 1/8 buggies and racing.

To the older SuperTen yes, with the smaller axle/hex, but to the FW04 no. I don't think you can find suitable foam tires anywhere... After all, rubber tires work much better on it.

Basically HPI Super Nitro tyres do not fit SuperTen FW04 (FW03 only), like I said the axle/hex is not ther same size.
I'm surprised if these fit even they say " Kyosho’s SuperTen FW04 as well!"
Have you tried these? If they do that's good news.

hey havent been on in a while. Internets been down.

I'm going to completely pull apart my car and clean the whole thing. I just been doing heaps of drifts in my backyard around tires, and in two tanks the air filter was so clogged the car was going about a quarter speed at full throttle.

So i'm going to clean it. Also, as it's fully stock i'm gonna go and get lots more air filters, a couple of spare glow plugs, a two-speed clutch, better tires and better suspension. Also i'll buy anything else that makes it better, i can afford and i want.

You must have seen that one on ebay.....I know ...it comes strictly rolling chassis and with the high performance two speed. I was thinking of getting it but was able to purchase the two speed (NEW) for ninety bux. I was going to get it too. I am looking for the superten II (four stroke edition). I have a brand new Four Stroke OS 26 fc I am lookng to sell.

Update: With new Kyosho distribution, I was able to get my new clutch in pretty fast at my LHS. The 4 stroke will see action soon once again!

Now that Great Plains is not with KYosho anymore and with the formation of Kyoshoamerica, that explains it all. Now we need them to bring the fw-04 back to the US !
