We Lowered the Temps!!
Thanks to all of you, and you know who you are, I followed your suggestions and it looks like I lowered the temps.
First, I turned the black head on the .15 CV-R(S)
(thanks atm92484_3) and the vertical slot now faces front/back to let the air flow through wwile the truck is moving.
Second, I reset the Needle to 1 3/4 turns open as the O.S. link stated it usually ends up at.
Third, I closed the Mixture screw about the width of the slot in the screw.
After running at temp a few minutes, I decided the top end was toooo rich, so I closed the Needle the width of the slot in the screw. Presto!!
Temp outside today was 85 degrees, moderate humidity, and yes, I was running in SHORT grass.
The highest temp I recorded was 276 after some hard short full throotle runs. Mid-3/4 throttle runs only even produced one temp check in the 260's, most were in the 250's or 240's.
After running, I did raise the ride height just a little, to help cut down on possible drag.
The only QUESTION I have now, is should I scrap the A5 plug and put in my #8 instead?
Thanks a lot. I read every reply, and print most for future reference. You guys are great!!
Karl

I would actually suggest the A3 plug.

A3
Would the A3 still give lower temps?
How about idleing charactoristics?

The A3 should idle better than the A5. The higher the number the shorter the spark or whatever you want to call it is lit. So with an A3 the little coil retains alot of the heat or spark from the previous revolution of the engine but with an A8 it retains a smaller amount of the heat needed to light off the next revolution. The A3 would be best for running under full throttle most of the time while the A8 would work better at wide open throttle.
That might be a little hard to understand in my language but that is basically how it works. Another example is if say you had an A3 in and you were constantly running it wide open, since that plug retain alot of the heat it could preignite the incoming charge before the piston reaches top dead center. This would make the charge of ignited fuel and air work against the piston coming up. This clashing would cause alot of heat.

Isn't that one and the same? Dave
